I was just messing around. Apparently you can't do that here. Bummer.

Thanks OP, just did this.

Does auto high beam still work at night?

Anyone know how to turn off the taillight DRL (on in position mode at all times)?
Looks like twisting the light switch to OFF will achieve this (albeit both front and and rear off). Need to do this on every startup since it defaults to AUTO.

You can make the headlight switch default to "last known" on start up instead of defaulting to AUTO by performing the coding change below.

Quick aside: There is a lot of confusion on what a DRL is. A DRL is "daytime running light." It doesn't have to be its own light (think lariat), a DRL can be a signal, a low beam, a high beam at 50% (like some vehicles, but I hate that - so blinding haha). In Canada, we do not have the DRL menu in the dash, and our DRLS happen to be the lowbeam and signal lamps at 50%. Forscan/Ford refers to DRL both ways, an actual light, and something being used as a DRL. We don’t have lariats, so no need to change anything actual light related.

Outcome: Turn signals to be at 100% brightness for DRL.

My Vehicle: 22 XLT Hybrid Mav, Canadian Spec, latest software from dealer as of Feb 2024 as it has so many darn recalls, I feel like a letter comes a month.

I made a new thread because the old thread is 2 years old and it is derailed by arguing about LED lifespan and warranty. Thanks to everyone in that thread that contributed, I went through everyone's posts over the past year and decided tonight I was finally going to crack it. I spent hours going back and forth on settings.

If you want to do this in your garage, the ambient light sensor is the black nub on your dashboard. I used a flashlight to force it into day mode, and then covered with my hands for 10-20 seconds (depends on what you have your mav set to) to make it go to night mode. You can test your results without having to go in and out of your garage or test at nightime etc.

Forscan:

I had a lot of weird anomolies with my truck, causing it do weird things, so go through every setting carefully. What I found to cause mine not to work was the high beam said not used for one side, and "power supply" for the right side? This was really weird. I also had all my "DRL by autolamps" disabled as well.

Below are my settings to get this to finally work, and I checked after a bunch of cycles:

To get signals to be 100% brightness you have to change Left Front Turn Lamp Usage and Right Front Turn Lamp Usage. - Turn and DRL

Thank you very much for doing the work and posting. I have a 2024 hybrid Canadian vehicle and hated that the low beams were on all the time. I made the change and it works perfect. I was wondering if there is a way to turn off the rear tail lights during the day? I also found it interesting thar my police dark car was enabled from the factory but yours was disabled. I tried it both ways and didn't notice any change.

UPDATE: I found my answer on page two on how to disable the rear taillights when the DRLs are on. I'm still wondering what the police dark car is?

Re tail lights do you mind quoting which post was it? I also have Canadian model, but wanted to have default light to auto but not have tails on with DRL.

Being ignorant, I will ask: "does the above line mean change the leading digit in the configuration file from the factory ZERO to a ONE, and then save the file?

I looked at the master spreadsheet and could not make heads or tails of where to start.

I am also looking for disabling the 'leave the lights on for a while' after shutting down,
and 'Don't turn on all the external lights when I open the door'.

Trying to get a starting point. I have had Forscan for several years prior to owning a Maverick, but used for OBD-II DTC infornation, nothing to do with configs.

Any help or pointers to same would be appreciated.

Basically change the digit listed in red, then write the changes. I would enable police dark mode if I was you. you can lower the 12v timeout as well, maybe there is a way to lower the timeout for courtesy lights on exit as well.. If police dark mode doesn't work for you, or you don't like that, I can figure out how to specifically disable welcome and exiting courtesy lights if you want.

What exactly is police dark mode?

All civilian models from Base to Sport have a feature called Illuminated Entry/Exit, where the cabin, parking, and puddle lights turn on whenever you enter/exit the vehicle. As a standard, Police Interceptors have this feature disabled by using a feature called "Dark Car," which disables the Illuminated Entry/Exit feature--police officers do not want to draw attention to themselves whenever the lights turn on as they enter/exit the vehicle.
