Hello,
Been lurking this forum since finding out and ordering a Maverick hybrid.
Would like to ease nerves and see who has a hybrid that has little to no problems. I placed an order recently and hesitant on hybrid.
But at the same time it fits all the marks in what I need in a vehicle
-gas efficient( I drive over 40miles a day)
-cargo space(bed to hold oversized items)
-passenger seats(family)
-durable?(cv axles big issue?)
Primarily used as a work vehicle, carrying tools as well, current vehicle gets crammed very fast. Anyways Thanks. And hope to join the club soon.
I just had mine out for 150 mile round trip Dr's visit and used about a 1/4 tank, about 37 mpg at 75 mph. Only issues I've had are some minor recalls taken care of at my first service (7500 miles) I now have a bit over 8100 miles and still loving my hybrid. In town milage is a bit down as I live in a small town and with the cold temps the gas engine runs more to provide heat so I barely get it warmed up in town. I have also had the remote start function (from my phone) say battery low and try again after longer drive. After yesterdays trip it is functioning again. It has more than adequate power for climbing grades with a moderate load and I have not had a huge load as of yet. Back seat space could be a bit better as on the drivers side I have moved my seat more forward for taller passenger comfort but have not had any negative feedback from those who have ridden in the back.

I have a 2023 XLT Hybrid that I purchased the end of November 23. I tried to order one the first two years and never got an order to go through with anyone. In the meantime I had a 2014 Nissan Rogue that I purchased new and had 212K miles on it that was going to need the first repair in it's life...catalytic converter and then shortly after need brakes and tires so i kicked it into over drive trying to find something. I looked at many small SUV's but but have wanted a truck again for a while because hauling anything always messed up the interior somehow. Anyway I finally found a Maverick that I could live with the deal on.

The Maverick fit exactly what I wanted too.... basically a small SUV with a bed instead of a hatch. I have no need to tow and wanted something I could throw stuff in the bed and not worry about. My main concern was smaller back seat room than my other car since I regularly have people in the back seat. Maverick was better than expected and I could make work for 3-4 hours a week that I have people back there.

I currently have 3200 miles on it I think and has been great so far. I did purchase an ESP from @Granger Ford for peace of mind, you can purchase it from them at a great price and don't have to buy the car from them to get it. I have owned a 2002 Ranger and a 2009 F150 that I ended up needing the extra warranty on both. Nothing to major but the warranty paid for itself in those cases.

I drive 60 miles a day and so far my overall average is 42. I have a mix of city and hwy driving, but I get the best MPG by doing the mostly city route (takes about another 10-15 minutes to get to and from work that way though).

My only complaints are 1. Carplay is finicky... this is my first car with it so I don't have anything to compare it to, but seems like this is not an uncommon complaint even on some other vehicles. 2. the front seat bottom is on the smaller side... for my comfort it would be 1-2" longer and maybe 1" wider. That being said I got use to it very quick and if you are a smaller person probably would not notice it.

I would recommend the Maverick to anyone.

I definitely agree with this statement as the vast majority of problems are the hybrid owners… the Toyota Prius hybrid system has been vetted for something like 20 years years and works nearly flawlessly…
Um, you do know that Ford's hybrid system is nearly identical to Toyota's, to the point that Ford pays them license fees? Ford has been making hybrid Escapes since 2004 IIRC, and those have good reputations for longevity. The transmission is ludicrously simple, with very few moving parts (like, under 20 depending on how you count things like bearings.) The transmission will not fall apart like Honda or Chrysler minivans.

Ive had to bring my my truck in to the dealership twice for two different exhaust related issues. Both times covered under warranty. Other than that I love it and I still wouldn’t complain about it.

XLT Lariat Luxury hybrid. Ordered Sep 16 2012, delivered July 26 2023. Only 5000 miles. Two software update recalls, both done the same day. 40 mpg so far with 80% hiway miles.
Driver's seat is not as comfortable as my 2017 RAV4. That's about the only negative I have. Love the lane centering and cruise control options. Really like the hybrid.
Would I buy again? Yes. So far, so good. If it turns bad, I'll be at my Toyota dealer in a heartbeat, looking at Prius or Corolla Cross hybrid.
That 11 year wait must have really sucked :)

OP, I mean no personal disrespect. But these "please reassure me" threads always make me visualize somebody standing on the corner with a sign "Hug needed". You're buying a hybrid. Some people (the vast majority???) have great experiences - there are many threads here that are basically group hybrid hugs (and nothing wrong with that). A few owners have bad experiences. A very few owners have had horrible experiences. You're gonna fall into one of those groups, apparently based on random chance.

Kind of reminds me of the scene in so many war movies where, the day before the big battle, some guy looks at his best buddy and says "Promise me I'm going to live through this.". Then he always dies.

I didn't have time to read 5 pages of comments (though getting 5 pages of comments in 1 day probably tells you what you need to know), so everything I say will probably have been said 20 times.

I got my Maverick in July of 2022 and have had ZERO problems! After 24,000 miles I still LOVE my truck as much as the day I got it. In fact, I may love it more. Obviously the newness has worn off, but the 45+ MPG never gets old. It handles extremely well and is the perfect size for me.

The only reason it's been back to Ford is for oil changes (I got 3 free and haven't even used the 2nd one yet) and a couple of recalls. Others have had some issues, but my experience has been perfect!!

My only issue is with Ford not the Maverick. They make all their radios/infotainment systems to where it's nearly impossible to upgrade them. I want a bigger screen, but 2.5 years later there's still NOT ONE replacement radio for the Maverick with a bigger screen.

The recalls I've had weren't an issue with me. I have a good dealer. I have a 1st year, the truck has been awesome. The fire recall (0 maverick hybrids that we know of have had a fire) affects just the early Hybrids, and it because of a manufacturing issue with the ICE, not the hybrid battery issue.

Most of the Hybrid haters have never test driven one or done their research on Ford's hybrid system. They pop in these threads just to prove to everyone including themselves they made the right choice.

It’s 5 months old, after waiting 50 weeks, and it’s got 12k miles. Not a single problem of any kind. 29mpg and I drive it like I stole it. I have the turn signal recall pending, but I’m not in a hurry to get it done.

I have added a few things to make it better, for me. Mine was 27.3k and the XL package. Tri-fold hard cover, spray in bed liner, mud flaps, Bronco Sport wheels, seat covers, floor liners, console dividers, the usual items.

Still lovin’ it. I occasionally tow my little 17.5’ Mako to the river with it. I also take 2-300 pounds of brass to the recycling center every week. Other than mulch, that’s about the extent of the work it does for me.

I ordered My Maverick October 1st 2021, received it February 15 2023. I have had just under a year now have just over 13K miles. I brought to dealer to perform turn light and brake module reprogram. Only issue I started to have just before bringing it to the dealer was grabbing brakes. So far after brake module reprogram issues seams to have cleared up.

I really enjoy the truck, this is my daily driver. My truck has been perfect for everything I have need it to do. I have haled lumber, pipes and even loads to junk. I have made several modification some for looks, others for luxury and also necessity. This is my pride and joy. For the price couldn't do any better, truck average 41 mpg over 13K.

Thanks to everyone still contributing. Seeing a lot of positive responses is great considering there’s a small chance to receive one with major issues.

Never purchased a new vehicle before, I tend to buy used and proven cars. But as others have said hybrid powertrain is licensed from Toyota so technically it is proven itself.

Don’t need a hug per se, but a lot of these threads are of issues and positive experiences were spread out. I feel like at least, So it’s great to have a bunch of good things in one thread.

I’ve had my 2023 Maverick Atlas Blue XLT with Lux pkg. hybrid with 4,800 miles. Not a single issue, just driving it and enjoying the comfort it provides. Happy happy

I picked up my Azure Gray 24 Lariat Hybrid in late November, has been trouble free and a great truck. Although I do have the windshield/dashboard rattle many have experienced (and haven't taken it in to get fixed yet). Have 2800 miles on it now and recently took a road trip to ABQ and with the higher altitude and the 86 gas (had to fill with the mid-grade cause they say don't use anything lower than 87 on the hybrid), it seemed like it didn't get as good of mileage as it had up till then, although the speed limit is 75 most of the way and I stayed with it as best I could, which may have affected the mileage. Here is an image, it now includes the Mabett mud flats / fender flairs and the Bakflip MX4 tonneau cover. Interestingly enough, this rest area as many do, had signs to beware of and watch out for rattlesnakes!
