Hey Folks, good morning. There have been so many posts on tires that my Attention Deficit Disorder can't deal with them all, so I will start this new, SPECIFIC, thread. When I replace my OEM Continentals on my Hybrid 2.5, I am considering moving up one size to 235s, mainly just to get a little more tread on the road. If they help fill in the space in the wheel well, that is fine, although I don't expect any significant change. So, for those of you who have made the switch to 235s, can you give me your opinion of the change, good and bad? Smoothness of ride? Handling? Noise? Speedometer change? Gas mileage is not a concern. Thanks in advance - happy new year.

A lot of those factors are going to be determined as much if not more by the tire you put on than just size alone.
Thanks, Darnon. I forgot to add that I intend on installing Michelin Defender 2 tires. I have always been happy with Michelins; this will be my first Defenders.

Tire diameter change is small between 225 and 235 but if we want to correct it, you can use FORScan.

I would do the 235 because it will fill the wheel well better and have no downside. I've seen stock height trucks on 225/65-17 and owned one with 235/65-17. yes, you can correct with Forscan or just ask your Ford dealer to do it.

Looks like officially the spec is 28 pounds for either size. One might be 27.5 pounds and the other 28.4, who knows, but let's just assume they're close enough to call it the same 28 pounds.

Glad to see Tire Rack mentioned above. I'd like to point out that they have a whole section dedicated to educating you on tires. There is a tab named "Research and Advice".

Short answer for most Mav owners here:
- The difference is very minor, you probably wouldn't notice it much
- 225 width is functionally better in every way
- 235 width looks better, and may be available in aspect ratios that 225 isn't (such as235/65/18)

You will never even feel the difference between the different sizes. But the tire quality will be noticeable for sure. I have always had great luck with Defender tires.

No discernable difference. The speedometer error is not worth messing with unless you are just OCD about tiny differences.

Colin, thanks for the poop. The matrix was interesting. And I believe anything in print. What is this foreskin that I am supposed to use? (The only surprise on this is that the 235s are $25 more than the 225s, per tire. Not a deal-breaker, but a surprise nonetheless.)

I assume that was a voice-to-text issue but either way, you're welcome for the :poop:

can't help with the foreskin, but here's the tire size change.
https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/where-to-change-tire-size-in-forscan.24880/

there are limits as some in that thread discovered. Ford didn't expect anyone to run 32" tires on a Maverick so if you put in that diameter, or something near it, you'll have issues.

But 235/65-17 definitely works, it's a stock size.

Fyi all my weights listed are from tire rack spec page on each tire. Also, these geolander cv 4s are a new tire (this fall), but word is they are AMAZING! They are 3 peak snowflake

It a computerized device that's used to expose the hidden interesting parts of your truck

I've been ooking at those (Geo CV 4S) as an option. Also Considering the Conti ATRs as well. Please share your thoughts.
