I have the same problem with my MY22. Also, my interior lights don't come on when I open the door in the dead of night, which urks me! Does the TSB for this do any good?
I have not seen anything about this being fixed.

Last evening - I got home after driving for 30+ minutes, had back door open for say 10-15 minutes while I was unloading some packages and received the dreaded "Battery Saver" message. these 12v batteries must be just on the edge of capacity for this to happen so often.

I have read on this blog that replacing the 12V battery will fix the issue, but it is a $230 battery and Ford will not cover the cost. Don't know if this is a long term fix, or just temporary?

I’m betting………
Just temporary. As I’ve said before………..
The problem is that the charging algorithm is such that a longer ICE run will keep the battery in good shape. But that will diminish electric miles, dropping MPGs.
Not what Ford wants.
So a bigger, better battery will last a bit longer than the OEM version. An AGM needs a shorter charge time than the OEM needs. Perhaps that will be determined to be the answer. Considerable expense. Should be on Ford.
What “proof” have I?
Those of us who drive longer distances on the highway will not have battery problems. But they won’t be seeing the high MPGs the the rest of us, with mostly back road and city and town driving, enjoy.

So realizing this is very unscientific, the poll indicates that MY 22 owners are twice as likely to have had these issues but of course they have had their vehicles quite a bit longer.

Looks like roughly 4 out of 10 owners from both model years combined have seen at least deep sleep notifications.

In general deep sleep is not always a bad thing but I think it is if you are using your truck regularly and is then a nuisance. I believe the more accessories you have and use like heated seats the more likely you might see this.

I have had my truck since the 24th of July and have close to 3k miles on it. Not one notification or deep sleep yet and zero start issues. I have a base Lariat. Time will tell.

Yes………

Not enough of it has passed for ’23 models yet. They will continue to come out of the woodwork.
For most of us that get the Deep Sleep notification, it doesn’t appear until the truck has been in use for 4-6 months. Have to give the OEM battery time to run down.
If the dealer replaces the battery with a new, fresh(?) one, the clock restarts.
To some degree I agree that this is not some super-duper
big deal. The real effect is that one cannot use the Ford app to start the truck remotely. Renders it useless.

I'm retired, truck sits in the driveway many days in a row, most trips are no longer than 10 miles, many less. When I had to drive my truck weekly into the town 17 miles away, problem went away, so you are correct, drive it more highway speeds and problem should be less.

As somebody who has had their Maverick at the dealership 5 times for deep sleep mode/dead battery issues, and also had Ford engineers travel to my dealership to work on my truck multiple times, I can assure everyone that none of the current TSBs or SSMs solve these issues.
Pretty sure I know the answer, but I'll ask anyway. Did you ever gain any traction on resolving the dead battery issue?

There certainly seems to be two different situations. My truck suffered the overnight dead battery a couple of weeks after no the interior lights symptom started. Same battery is holding after an overnight charge out of the truck. Perhaps the low battery sets up the circumstances for the overnight battery drain.

1. Low battery/deep sleep/no dome lights issue which can become more consistent as the battery degrades over time. Mismatch between the charging algorithm and temporary load on the battery after parking. Truck still starts.

2. The dead battery issue which seems more random. Battery is occasionally completely dead after parking overnight. Seems an intermittent circumstance places a load on battery when parked that is large enough/doesn't switch off which is adequate to completely discharge the battery. Truck won't start without being jumped.

1. not as big a deal to me and can be contained with trickle charging, but 2. is much more of a PITA and will kill the battery much more quickly. Would definitely like to get it sorted prior to the end of warranty, but don't recall anyone posting a resolution from Ford.

Merry Christmas!

Cheers.

I have not had a conclusive fix yet. My most recent issues were a series of intermittent dead batteries around October. I took my maverick in for numerous service center visits and they struggled to duplicate the issue or find a solution.

The last visit in that series of visits lasted for about a month while multiple ford engineers looked at my maverick. It was perpetually stuck in deep sleep mode and would immediately go back into deep sleep mode every time it was shut off. One of the engineers asked my dealer to replace the Body Control Module (BCM) on a hunch, not because he actually found anything wrong with mine. The dealer replaced my BCM and sent me home. My maverick remained perpetually in deep sleep mode for about a week after the BCM was replaced, then it magically started staying out of deep sleep mode. I have now gone about a month with no issues other than a single deep sleep mode warning, which may have just been a fluke.

All that to say that I don’t know if mine is fixed or not. The service center has tinkered with my truck numerous times and the issue always seems to return after a few weeks or months. If I can go another 5 months without a dead battery then I’ll have some confidence that the BCM replacement fixed it.

Fingers crossed the BCM replacement resolved the issue! Thanks for the information.

I am wondering if replacing the BCM in my Ecoboost will solve my battery issues? I am thinking that the BCM is slowing killing my EFB...

After dealing with Deep Sleep for 1 month, I pulled the trigger on an AGM battery. A bit pricey, but we'll see how it goes after the computer relearns the battery :)

Does the plastic cover still fit on top of the battery after you installed the AGM battery? I noticed that you had to increase to an H4 size battery since they don’t make a T4 battery in AGM.

I have a 23 hybrid that I drive 12 hours a day as it’s my work truck. I used to get deep sleep as soon as I shut it off. I noticed it would charge @ 15 volts while driving and go to 11.8 when I shut the truck off. Dealer looked at it and said they didn’t see anything. I got tired of it so I put an optima yellow top DH5 in. Never had deep sleep since.
