Until the wheels fall off. And then I'll get some new wheels to put back on...

This is my sole truck purchase for the rest of my life. I don't see me needing anything bigger and my dad is still rocking his 1994 F-150.

Going to keep it for a while unless I like the updates when it is refreshed or if I get a travel trailer that I need to be able to tow.

The only problem I see with your plan is that the more companies that jump into this segment, the lower the used market will be. The reason the Maverick resale market is so high now is the lack of competition in the segment.
I was speaking more in general than just the compact truck segment. The car market could change quickly, but with the average age of a car in the US being about 12 1/2 years old, I think demand for newer used cars will remain strong. If Ford hadn't come in at $20k, what would the segment look like? I certainly think it would be a relevant category but growing at a slower pace.

Until there’s a raptor maverick option or it dies. Whichever comes first.

How long do you plan to keep your Ford Maverick Truck?
For as long as I waited, actually, I ordered another one because I got an XLT Lux and it ain’t lux enuf. I want the fob and the ACC. But this time I chose the dealer for my Azure Grey Lariat Lux (bye Area51), after dealing with the hooligans here, in New Mexico. That is where we are moving if it doesn’t burst into flames this summer. The Maverick took a month to get here, sat on the dock in San Diego for two weeks waiting for the ship to come in. Now it is overwater (praying) and I don’t want to ship it back from Honolulu, rather sell it. Of course I might fall in love with it and additionally my order may drop off the side of the earth, this one did in ‘22….

I buy and sell cars frequently, in the 8 years I've been driving I've had 8 vehicles from 1966-2007 excluding the Maverick. I have already thought about selling and going back to the <5000$ shitboxes but I'm kinda enjoying not needing to work on it every other week. who would have though

Until at least 12/29/2031. That’s when the warranty runs out.

Agreed. The initial price of the Maverick was certainly what got people’s attention and what ended up making the order windows so short in duration. As to the segment, I think it’ll remain robust, but as other manufacturers jump in, the sales will be spread among the competItors. I’ll be interested to see what the others offer…hybrid, plug in hybrid, EV, ICE only. But I think the market is starved for a true small pickup.

Still waiting, but intent was to keep it many years as a supplement or even replacement vehicle to our nine year old Prius and my 22 year old Ranger. We will see, all depends on reliability and maintenance problems.

Interesting thread.

I still have my high school- first vehicles. So keeping for an extended time is on my side. I’m 34 btw.

I will have to say I plan on keeping it until a better daily driver presents itself. I will also say in a technology view also. The maverick fits me perfect. I have a 2500 Ram diesel for any pulling size purposes and a small truck for daily driving anything minor needs

I also have a 68 camaro and a c6 z06. I have a carb, drum brakes, and no power steering vs fuel injection, disc brakes, and power steering the z06 is so much better to drive.

I’ll move from the maverick when technology says I need to. I expect that to be a long long long time down the road.

After a horrible experience with a car out of warranty years ago, I haven't kept a vehicle very long outside it's warranty.
I usually lease or trade every three years. I've owned my current hybrid crossover 4.5 years.
If I like the Maverick as much as I hope/think I will and there are no significant issues with it 🤞🏻🙏🏻, I plan to keep it long term.
Tired of having car payments.

Har to say. On the one hand, I can see purchasing an extended warranty before the factory warranty expires and keeping my Maverick 10+ years.

On the other hand, I can envision a scenario where newer, competitive vehicles arrive on the market with enough attractive features/advantages that I'd want to take a look sooner.

Ultimately, it will depend on the reliability of the Maverick, the other options that exist 2-5 years from now, the resale value of the Maverick at that time and interest rates at that time.

So, I guess a very long-winded of saying, "It depends." But it really does. What we plan today might not be the best plan tomorrow.
