My last two vehicles I traded in/sold because the used car market is nuts and I got more than 75% of what I paid for them even with 95K and 125K miles on them. If the used car market is the same in a few years I will get rid of it then and get another. If not then I will keep it longer.

If the used market stays hot and I can swap used for new and lose less than $1k per year of driving I'll keep doing that.

But I doubt that'll keep up. Once trading costs me money I'll keep what I have for 10 years if no major issues.

Today a person can buy a new car, drive it for a few years and get a large portion of their money back, which makes driving a new car as cheap as driving a used car. My '23 Mav with 8,000 miles is worth $4500 more than I have in it. I really like my Maverick but I'm not sure I want to drive a Ford that's out if warranty. It will be interesting to see which manufacturers jump into this hit segment. I' probably will buy a '26 ?????
The only problem I see with your plan is that the more companies that jump into this segment, the lower the used market will be. The reason the Maverick resale market is so high now is the lack of competition in the segment.

How long do you plan to keep your Ford Maverick Truck?
I really don't know. I am not impressed with Ford's build quality so far. I just received my 23 Lariat ecoboost a few days ago and I already see fit and finish problems. Cheap/soft plastic everywhere that you cannot touch without scratching or scuffing. Thin paint and i suspect that all of the exterior plastic will fade quickly in California weather. I waited a year and I am already thinking of trading it in within a couple of years. I will see what Toyota or Ram has coming in a small truck.

I usually keep vehicles a long time. My last truck was an F-150 which I drove for 22 years. I imagine this will be my last new vehicle. Once it arrives, I plan to keep it until I am no longer able to drive.
If you have a wife like mine you would have to sell it today - My wife says I cant drive now - hahahahaha

Based on the high maintenance costs for previous out-of-warranty Rangers, not one day past the 3 year warranty, which is September 2026.

Also, BEVs will be coming on strong and affordable by mid-decade, and I can't wait to never visit a gas station again. So my next car will definitely be a BEV. I don't want to be holding the title to an ICE vehicle when ICE vehicle resale values drop off a cliff (assuming that actually happens - who really knows at this point).

If I don’t have major issues 4-5 years. If I have no issues I’d keep it for 8. Love this truck minus the engine shudder. If it gets fixed tomorrow - going in for TSB 23-2209 to fix this issue - then I would definitely keep it for a while
When I read engine shudder I had to look at the year and was astonished to see you have a 23! I knew it happened in the 22s and I had it happen once but I thought the issue was solved in the 23s. Knock on wood, I haven’t experienced it in my 23 yet🤞🏻 I do hope it gets fixed tomorrow.

Probably my last new vehicle , had the Mav for almost a year and a half no issues , I will keep up on the maintenance and Krown rust check it yearly. I'm 61, getting to old to be making truck payments all the time.
That's why I bought mine out right, Ill be 63 in a month or so if anything I'll buy a beater to keep the miles down and off the salty roads

This is my last new vehicle barring unforeseen circumstances. How long will I have it? Depends on how long I live. :ROFLMAO:

I used to say 10 years or when the mpg is more than twice what I’m getting currently but there were so many issues with my 2019 Hyundai EV I only owned it 2 years, bought my 22 Maverick and with the crazy resale market I traded my 18 month old with 28k miles for a 23 with a new warranty, 28 miles and the color I originally ordered.

I love this little truck and am now back on track to my 10 years or twice the mpg😊👍🏻 I don’t like putting money into a depreciating asset and I don’t believe the resale market will hold as it’s already beginning to soften.
