I run a 20 micron carbon into soft water, followed by a 10 micron carbon and finally a 5 micron. That is just the house feed. I have another dual filter setup at my point of use; 1 micron into a 1/2 micron. That is my "wash water." After my "wash water", I do a final rinse using reverse osmosis. I use an air gun(30PSI) and very large micro fiber cloths for drying. Always wash at first daylight to minimize heat/sun down here in Ron's Land of Freedom. Never have spots on my black cars this way. The RO final rinse is the absolute key for a spot free wash.
I run a hose to a spigot on the side of my house and dry it with an old bath towel.

honestly, I don't know how we got to this point. The same with the hundreds of bottle water brands - in the end...it's WATER.
I'm right there with you, brother! It's just water, and I'm going to do my best to remove it all with a towel when I'm done. In the end, it's a Maverick, not a million-dollar Bugatti...

There was a guy at the gas pump the other day who was complaining about the price of gas ($3.19/gal), as we compared MPG figures for my Hybrid Maverick (46 mpg in town) versus his F150 (17 mpg in town). He said he was going to have to look at getting "one a them leetle trucks" to "save him some gas money." Meanwhile, he's sipping a bottle of some fancy labelled water. I asked him if he realized he just paid more than $13 a gallon ($1.50/500ml) for what is basically tap water with a designer label... The look on his face was priceless.

And yeah, I sometimes buy bottled water as well - but generally only when the tap water tastes funny. Nowadays, I take my "freebie" Yeti bottle full of cold water everywhere I go, so there's another "money-saving" benefit to Maverick ownership... I do, however, pay the price for Diet Coke – knowing full well that I'm paying a ridiculous price for basically the same tap water, with some carbonation, coloring, and flavoring added. But I like the flavor enough to make it worthwhile for me. Can't say the same about unflavored bottled water that - at best - is odorless and tasteless.

People love blowing money - it's ok if it's occasional but when it gets worked into everyday purchases it adds up quick. Also interesting how most water bottles are 'no deposit' so for the privilege of being able to pay $13 a gallon for water they also get to add the junky bottles (usually there is not a deposit fee on them) to the trash heaps that won't decompose for decades to swill water that was likely taken from some state lake and filtered in some plant when instead they could just get a carry cup and fill it with already sanitized city water for oh about no cost at all.

I really don't understand the hate on the OP question. We all modify are vehicles for different reasons and If someone wants to wash there vehicle with ultra pure water, are they hurting you or your feelings? He just was curious as what other people have come up with and is just looking for an answer. I don't see how bashing clean water that the OP is after is constructive. The forum is a place where we enthusiasts go for answers, community, and showing off our toys. Be constructive and positive; its a lot nicer than being negative. If you don't have anything to add just keep your negative opinions to yourself or your hate group.

I usually dislike posts that do not respond positively to an OP's question.

But trying to get less than 10 PPM's of dissolved solids to wash a truck you have to admit is a more than a bit extreme.

That is way below what is considered good for drinking. water. Which is <250 PPM

That being said the OP has the right to do what ever he wants to do. And the need for reverse osmosis has already been addressed.

I’m using 1 micron sediment filters and 1 micron carbon filters and nothing is happening to the water ppm. infigured That would take my ppm down to around at least 50 so when I connect the other stage it would last longer before filters need changed. The other filters are supposed to filter to 0 no matter what the ppm is but if your ppm is really high then they won’t last long. I have just received 2 more of the smartWater filters but didn’t hook those up yet. The goal setup is white SmarWater filters are for filtering before pressure washer to do all the washing and such. Then remove the pressure washer from the equation and set in max water purifier filters with the smartWater filters for rense. The white filters flow enough for pressure washer but the max purifier won’t and that’s not an issue

Deionization filter system, take your pick based on what you can afford, use it as a spotless rinse. Your wash water makes no difference as long as you don’t let it dry before you get to the rinse stage.

a detail supplier near me sells the water by the gallon or you can install your own.

not sure how many remember the mr clean spotless car wash but basically had a dial that routed the hose water through a deionization filter for rinsing.

don’t over think the water unless your doing a per panel wash method where your cleaning mitt only touches one panel and your was water only washes that panel…..

I’m about to lose my fucking mind… sediment filters, carbon filters, combo of each, deionized filters……… my ppm are either higher or don’t move or less than 10 filtered… what in the absolute hell is happening. I have 6 total filter modules now that I just got 2 more in but need more fittings to connect them all together so currently only running 4. My water is 165 to 185 ppm from the tap and out of the filters it’s 165 to 200+ depending on how many combinations and days I have to keep coming back to this…. Someone please help before I have a complete mental meltdown over something so damn stupid. I got the same setup as several YouTubers so what is my smooth brain doing wrong?
