I'd like to keep my paint in good condition, given that I tend to retain vehicles for many years. What's the best way to wash? Microfiber, yes....dish soap no? What do you recommend?
I use products from Chemical Guys. They have a variety of stuff for interior, wheels, tires, and washing. The soaps (Mr. Pink is my favorite) are designed to be used w cold water, which most of us use when we wash at home. A foam cannon with your garden hose, a couple A micro Fibre mitts and pails does the trick. The Wooly Mamoth towel is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING for a streak free look. I've used the Butter Wet Wax to finish . Easy to apply. My pal worked for Lamborghini in Vancouver, B.C., and their detail shop uses all the Chemical Guys products..so take that for what it's worth. Here's a link to their YouTube channel.

I can't recommend these products highly enough.

1st, I had a ceramic job done including the windows. Which I feel has really paid off. For example, I just drove through an Arizona monsoon and after the 350 road trip my little beast looked like it just got washed except for some of the glass. But stopped to fill up and cleaned the glass. 2nd, I use my power washer to spray, then with a damp microfiber, go over the few spots, usually the front bumper and then the wheels, then my power washer soap gun, then the rinse. I then use my leaf blower then drive around the block then dry the few places left with another microfiber. Done

I was deep in the derailing rabbit hole years ago. I’ve loosened up a bit but still do regular washes followed by a spray sealant . The over the counter products have really stepped up their game in ease of use and value ( Meguiars, TW, Griots Garage, Chemical Guys, etc) I’ve also used Ethis products with great success.

The key for me is to always have some surface protection as it makes keeping the car clean easy. As far as products, be strayed away from boutique brands and use almost OTC products now.

However, the urge to try new products and processes is strong.

2300 psi pressure washer and a soft towel. Any car wash soap. No ”foam cannon.”

Hand wash with a MTM Foam canon and the 2 bucket method with grit guards using Adam’s Car shampoo, blow dry with an Ego Blower. Every 3 months it gets Gtechniq Easy coat.

I’ve owned vehicles that were detailed weekly and babied and waxed more than I’d like to admit and I’ve had vehicles that I’ve literally done absolutely nothing with. For me now, I just run it through a car wash that costs $25 a month. Does a good enough job. It’s a ford and it won’t matter if I wipe it with a cloth made from the pubes of a virgin or take it through a car wash, it will be worth what it is worth.

When I factor in what I make on an hourly basis and how long it would take for me to wash/wax/detail weekly it and assume that I own the car for 5 years, it’s just not worth the investment.

I keep my truck clean using two bucket method and all the premium car wash things
I picked Hot Pepper because it’s a great color when clean
My truck has zero swirls and scratches (some rock chips sadly outside of the PPF’d areas)
I keep all my cars as clean as possible because it’s a point of pride to me
I don’t look at it as investment work
I just want it to look its best all the time

Some people care, some people don’t care
Everyone is free to have a zillion brush scratches dulling the paint if they want…. Hopefully they didn’t pay extra for one of the premium colors

👍 Yep
I may run the hose over it tonight, once the sun goes down, if it's not too windy.
Or
I may use the two bucket method.
Two buckets of water thrown onto the truck. 😁

No choice but to use tunnel car wash in my area (Vegas). I try to wait until it's really dirty, like in Glen baker's pic, then it's off to the car wash. Can't wash in my driveway because we're in water conservation mode down here.

Usually sponge wash and hand wax truck twice a year . Mav only has 8500 miles after 2 years and always garaged . I don't need a step ladder to reach the roof like with the f150 that I had .
