Are we suppose to wash the Maverick? Guess you learn something every day.
My thoughts exactly. Isn't that what rain is for?

I feel like the OP should really talk to someone LOL. There is nothing wrong with taking excellent care of a vehicle. And then there is being needlessly neurotic....
I agree, but as someone who went down the rabbit hole of water purification / the chase to zero PPM TDS as part of keeping a reef/saltwater tank, I know the obsession. Shooting for "pure" water can be just as fun as modding your vehicle. My path was easier since the water up here in Seattle is usually below 40 ppm coming out of a garden hose. I sympathize with the folks who are working with "liquid rock" in other parts of the country/world.

I wash mine at least once a week with griots wash and wax and add a top coat of the spray wax. Mine is always super clean . Regular water .

I totally get it for this like the fish tank. Otherwise, just use the water man. LOL

I do less than that and mine still looks good. Mine is just a driver. When I was younger I obsessively washed and waxed my cars. But I was also dating back then and always going to car events etc. Now it rains, and there is dust and I have my mtn bike in and out all the time. I have a top level wash package at my local soft touch wash place now and once a week I am there. I dry it with air when done, then touch up water spots quickly with a soft rag and Maguiers and call it good.

Man don't stress I wash my Maverick straight from the well hard water . Use Turtle wash and Eagle one Spray and dry wax and every other time I use Mc quires Hybrid ceramic spray and dry here's some pics of my Maverick. Chill 😎 Man 👻☃

Wow - excellent process. The blue really pops. I can see before you discovered the process in the background on the Jeep :). Seriously though, San Diego CA is known for having very hard water. My technique is to keep up with a spray detailer and to dry the Mav throughly including door sills so the minerals don't bake into the finish. And not to stress.

That’s intense and nice but I use the WaterSentinel SF-20W Spotless Car Wash. It is easy to use. I wash my Mav with the regular hose but once I am rinsing, I switch over to the sentinel and it sets spot free

I’m about to lose my fucking mind… sediment filters, carbon filters, combo of each, deionized filters……… my ppm are either higher or don’t move or less than 10 filtered… what in the absolute hell is happening. I have 6 total filter modules now that I just got 2 more in but need more fittings to connect them all together so currently only running 4. My water is 165 to 185 ppm from the tap and out of the filters it’s 165 to 200+ depending on how many combinations and days I have to keep coming back to this…. Someone please help before I have a complete mental meltdown over something so damn stupid. I got the same setup as several YouTubers so what is my smooth brain doing wrong?

Yeah, in Central Florida and get 0 TDS easily while changing out media every other year lol! I keep a 32gallon brute for my topoff reservoir so I just use a pitcher to grab a gallon at a time to rinse my cars.

Where is you RO membrane. You're going to burn out the DI media without one.

Ya'all know water corrodes metal right?

You will inevitably get some unpainted parts and paint chipped parts wet every time you wash.

There's a reason car bodies last longer in Nevada than they do in Florida.

🤔

Fun Fact: demineralized water and/or distilled water is more corrosive than tap water, river water, lake water etc.

Think of it like this: minerals in the water act like buffers. Water has already done a lot of its harmful effects by dissolving some minerals. The minerals have taken the blow for the team. They have taken the "bite" out of the water. They have "weakened" the water.

"Steel or stainless steel have reasonable corrosion behaviour in water, their corrosion resistance is significantly dependent on the water purity. It was not expected that demineralized water has an aggressive effect on steel alloys, in this study, the effect of water with different purity on steel X52 and stainless steel 316L was investigated. Weight loss and electrochemical measurements were employed to measure the corrosion behaviour. Samples were microscopically investigated after test. It was observed that the higher the water purity the more reactive it is. Comparative analysis of the potentiodynamic curves for different water purity showed the aggressiveness of the demineralised water (conductivity of 0.05 S /cm) over the distilled water. Whereas, the corrosion rates of stainless steel 888.2 and 661.6 nm/y for demi and distilled water respectively. On the other hand the corrosion rates of carbon steel x52 were estimated about 7.2 and 5.9 μm/y for demi and distilled water, respectively. Open circuit potential (OCP) recorded more positive potentials in case of stainless steel than carbon steel in different water purities. Generally, stainless steel illustrated higher pitting resistance than carbon steel alloy, the surface film was investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and analyzed by energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX).This behaviour was explained based on that demi and distilled water might be considered as "hungry water" in which it wants to be in equilibrium and will pull ions out of the surrounding metals trying to satisfy its "hunger"."

Should I filter the rain and snow 🌨 as well
You’re not thinking about this correctly. My truck gets muddy as all hell every week, it’s not about clean water touching my paint it’s all about not having so have sooo much work and have to take so much time in just washing it. What happens afterwards I care less

So many of you are completely missing the point of why I want 0 tds in water to wash. All the detail dudes run deionized water for rinsing and they run businesses on giving a customer a great looking product with very little time invested. I want to wash my truck fast as fuck. My truck goes off-road every other week. In the worst of muddy conditions. So stop acting like I’m scared of unpure water or something touching my paint. I work in the coal mines and our roads are just straight mud year round. When I get home for my off days I have way more cleaning to do than you city folk with a month worth of dust on your truck. I can’t wash inside and I can’t get a pop up tent either (stupid subdivision bs) so washing in the sun is all I can do and so far considering just how dirty my truck gets it has been taking around 5 hours to wash it and yes I know I do go a little overboard on washing but if you ever got yours as dirty as mine then you’d understand that using a mit and a bucket isn’t gonna do it. I’d just like to be able to save some time and using deionized water would seriously save me a good 2 hours. Look up a few detailers on YouTube and the very most important thing of detailing a car is literally the water quality
