My ‘23 maverick with 1200mi developed a new rattle. Both upper windshield alignment pins have been removed, so I’m pretty confident that the windshield is not the issue this time.

The new rattle sounds like it’s coming from deep inside the dash at the center of the vehicle. It happens almost every time I hit a bump, and it sounds like it’s two loose components vibrating against each other. This is more of a true rattling noise, whereas the windshield pins were just making clicking noises. This rattle seems to be worse in the warm weather, whereas the windshield pins seemed to be worse in cold weather.

Has anybody else had a rattle similar to what I’m describing? I can try to upload a video if nobody else has seen anything like this.

I have/had a similar rattle in my dash. Sounded like a wiring harness connector banging against back of instrument cluster. Only did it on rough roads like our city streets. Now that it’s warmer weather it has stopped so far anyway. I was reading another post, someone had disassembled the dash and mentioned there was a lot of slack in wiring harness connections to instrument cluster. Sounded like there was enough slack to actually set the cluster on top of the dash. I think it might be a loosing battle soon as you get one rattle stopped another starts up, as now I have another squeak/rattle from the back of the truck. The way the back panels are put on doesn’t give me great confidence. And don’t get me started on paint job, I’ve seen thicker paint on fingernails.

Video would be great. Might be good to pop the hood and listen in there too for a loose line or something.

Hey there. I can look into your Maverick’s rattle concerns on my end if you’d like. Will you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership info?

right about the paint, so many chips on the hood. I know it is a cheap truck but I bought the cheapest car in the world one time the 1986 Hyundai sedan for under $4600 when it first came out and it did not rattle and the paint did not chip! drove it 63000 miles till I sold it with no issues

Had a dash rattle that sounded like a wiring harness connector tapping on back of instrument cluster. Now that it’s warmer, it’s no longer there. Hope it doesn’t come back next winter.
my rattle started when it got warmer

the Maverick is cheaply made, but I don’t consider it a inexpensive truck with the dealer tacking those extra dollars on I pad $500 more for mine than I gave for my F150 supercrew. And even though my supercrew was a XLT it was better equipped than my Lariat Maverick.
I usually trade every 2-3 years so hopefully the Maverick holds together that long. Who knows, got cool again yesterday and dash rattle is back.

I had the same rattle where the windshield meets the passenger A pillar. I took this thread's info to the dealer and after a few other tries of swapping out trim parts, they did a window reseal after me insisting on trying this solution. Well, it worked! The dealer said the windshield had very little seal and it was clearly the issue. Thank you all for posting this.

Now I have to go back to the dealer b/c when they took off the 360 co-pilot cover when removing the windshield it now rattles over larger bumps. I think a clip may have been busted. I hope when I go back the next time it will be the last.

Thanks again everyone!

At about the 250 mile mark my Maverick developed a rattle in the dash plastic. It starts at above 35mph and is constant. I can't for the life of me pin point the exact area in the dash its coming from. Pushing on different areas of the dash does nothing to stop it. Anyone else have this problem? Is this something the warranty would cover? I pretty much just have to keep the radio volume turned up all the time so I can't hear it.

Well I can add myself to the dreaded dash/windshield rattle at ~4000 miles. Has been fine this whole time and with this recent cold spell in the Midwest, it just popped up. It's insanely annoying as it does it under the slightest road undulations. Ugh... Of course by the time I schedule anything with the dealership, it will warm up and they won't find anything. And it appears from this thread that even if they do acknowledge a rattle, they probably won't do anything.

The thread has more than a few of us which can confirm the issue at this point. Show them the thread and tell them to call the Ford internal line if they don't believe us.

Sounds like my dealer, guy is in there stalled with my roof liner off and stuff right now, but when I suggested the white windshield locators as a possible source he brushed me off. Ohhhh well, have fun wasting time and company money.

Update:

Dealer just contacted and the tech called Ford, FMC is recommending windshield removal for further inspection....maybe we are getting somewhere.
