XLT FX4, probably 70%+ highway (45 mph+ state or interstates), usually in Eco mode. Usually running 93 octane, but went down to 89 a few tanks ago with no negative results. Haven't towed yet, occasionally have a few hundred pounds in the bed (lawn equipment, generator, junk) or kayaks/canoe on a bed rack, but most of the time just running empty with a tonneau cover on a daily commute.

Overall average for the first 9000 miles has been 28.8 mpg
Best single tank was 33 mpg (road trip in warm weather and flat terrain, almost all highway), Worst was 23 (first tank, winter weather).

I've got a pretty light foot most of the time, so I'm sure that helps.
Replying to myself to give an update -

I'm now over a year and just barely shy of 20,000 miles, still primarily running 89 octane (for either price or availability reasons, I've had a couple tanks of 87, 90, and 91 mixed in there). Same driving conditions as before.

Overall average is now sitting at 29.4 mpg, worst tank overall remains the first one (23.3). The worst in the past 6 months was 26.4 (cool temps, some snow/ice driving conditions). The best single tank was an impressive 36.5 mpg over 519 miles, but that remains the only tank over my previous best of 33.0.

If both platforms produce plenty of hp/torque for the average driver, why not consider the one with the best mpg? I've not seen one review that the hybrid was not a capable machine for most. Especially with the cost of fuel these days. I believe once Ford gets up to speed with production, I think that is what sells will show also. We shall see. out.
If you could get a Hybrid

You hybrid guys, chiming in on an ecoBoost only thread... but can you tow!? That 4K tow package is pretty sweet. I repeatedly got 23 to 24 mpg (Imperial) towing this camper, around 20 mpg US.

... and with the AWD more useful in winter. I've been getting 7.3 liters/100 kms indicated combined recently, in real world winter conditions. That's probably 7.5 actual, 37 mpg Imperial, 31.4 mpg US. Crazy good fuel economy IMO. When it gets really cold out, fuel economy suffers, but that's normal. My wife was torqued recently as our Maverick has been getting better fuel economy than our Corolla! Can't imagine what guys get for fuel economy on big gas full size trucks.

I don't want to start a 'fight' because every Maverick is a good Maverick.

However .. They did come in here, and it does say ecoboost in this thread title. :)

No, I didn't settle for a hybrid. I drive a lot for work, but my gas is covered and I'm doing 70-84 on highways. In the realm of 80, the hybrid still has superior mileage but it's not nearly as big of a difference, and passing on 2 lane highways I want to be in the wrong lane as little time as possible. Not sure if the hybrid folks have ever experienced it, but the ecoboost with premium fuel will pass at highway speeds with gusto.

I don't have a bigger tow vehicle so 4K towing is important to me. Also, it's about fun. I'll be autocrossing and rallycrossing my Maverick this year (first event in March!) and I'm sure I wouldn't bother with that in a hybrid.

I have had my truck a little more than a year now. I can run 75 to 80 on the road and get 31 mpg. Those are darn good numbers for a truck.
Yes good for an Eco but here's a hybrid who has gone 10,000 miles and has never reset his trip meter #2. ;)

I'm currently getting 20/21 city and 29/30 highway on my XL FWD. Almost 100% city except for a couple of trips out of town a month. I don't floor it, just standard driving. I do spend quite a bit of time in school zones twice a day. It's been good I think...

City driving 23 - 24 (stop go 35 50 mph)

Interstate driving 80 mph level roads 25 - 26 mpg

Have seen at lower interstate speeds (65 - 70 mph) 27 - 28 mpg

After the first 15K miles on my XL EB FWD I can say I am impressed by this little truck. It does everything I need it to do and does it comfortably.

I find a person has to be careful with the indicated average fuel economy. It's usually a bit optimistic, but sometimes overly so. My last tank, I was showing 7.7 liters/100 kms, but after filling it hand calculated to 8.5. That's 27.7 US mpg, 33.2 Imp for us Canucks. That's combined, regular gas with up to 10% ethanol, in winter driving. Pretty decent IMO.

My first time in the 500 club! I expect the actual mileage to be somewhere around 31 mpg. It usually is 1 to 2 mpg lower than calculated by the Truck. This Was obtained with about 90% highway driving.
