I ordered my Ford Maverick mid December of 2021. My dealer had me reorder/cancel that order and send in a new order for a 2023.
I was one of 3 out of 40 orders from my dealer that didn't get built.
I then got an email from Ford saying there were still delays and they would update me in 45 days!!!
I see on here that other people ordered later than me and got their Maverick this year.
My dealer also has used Mavericks but they are 5-6K more than I am supposed to pay!!
I looked at getting my deposit back but there is nothing out there at that price.
I looked at used Ford Rangers and Honda Ridgelines but to keep it in the same price range, I have to buy a 5 year old car with mileage on it.
Plus the gas mileage is not as good as the Maverick.

I am wondering if Ford is just going to wait until I back out and then they can make my truck and sell it for 5-6K more.
My dealer is getting sick of me asking for updates - he doesn't have any!!!
Getting tired of waiting - is it based on geographical region of the US? I am way up here in Northern Vermont.

Anybody else been waiting as long as I have or longer? It's depressing to go to this site and see people get their truck in 4-5 months.
It was not a special order - I ordered a black XLT with no special features.
This sucks - I want my Maverick.

Ford builds according to what they have, not who ordered first. If yours is a reorder with a 10 Priority level, it should be built in the next couple months. I'm hoping Ford builds the one I ordered 2 months ago sometime next year. I'm not holding my breath though. Be patient, or cancel. Only 2 options. If you cancel, the dealer won't cancel it from Ford, they will just mark it up when it arrives for retail sale.

You said your dealer had you "cancel" the order, and re-order? But you are still getting emails about the Dec 2021 order, and you are wondering if "Ford" is just trying to wait you out until you bail and still make your order?

Yes, you definitely are confused. Nothing makes sense there

Ford doesn't make any more money off of the dealer selling your truck for more so there's no conspiracy at play waiting until the moment you cancel to schedule.

Thanks for the reply - Hopefully, they can build it in the next few months. I was really hoping to have it for ski season - guess that's not happening.

Of course, you could get a Mav now by paying extra for a dealer who has an abandoned order. There are lots out there. You have to weigh extra money vs. not having a Mav for the winter season. I was very patient…ordered in Oct 21, drove her home Sept 22…11 months wait.

I would ask your dealer to give you the order number and priority code. Then either call or use the chat on Ford.com to ask about the status of your order.

Don't rely on either your dealer or on Ford to have all the facts. Your dealer may not have all the information but your order might not have been entered right either, in which case Ford might not have all the info.

What you really, really need is to have your dealer assign your truck a priority 10. And check to see if you have any constrained items that can be added at the dealer like mud flaps. That is about the only thing you can personally do.

Ford won't know if you back out.... Ford won't get more 5-6K more for the truck if it is sold to someone else (but your dealer may).

So you had to reorder a 23. Essentially every single 23 order got an email that there are productions delays, and that Ford would update in 45 days.
Ford took more than enough orders for the entire MY in less than a week. They won't all be built @ once.

Allocation is given out regionally. That could play a roll. There are more orders for Mavericks than there is capacity for production.

There are many people waiting as long as you, or longer.
I know that that won't make you feel any better though!
Waiting and more waiting...that's about all you can do if you ordered a Maverick!

I waited 13 months for mine and during that time I saw countless mavericks with the same build get delivered months before mine. It is very frustrating so I feel your pain. I never not once received a email from ford or any updates from my dealership. I got it 2 weeks ago and love it but not sure I’d do it all over again.

I feel your pain. I ordered October 9, 2021. I got all excited when I finally got a scheduled build date and VIN. Then the scheduled build dates kept getting moved back and back. So now my 22MY is going to be a 23MY. However, just hearing crickets as far as updates. I have heard it said, "no news is good news". I don't know whether to believe that or not at this point. :(

Why is there no explanation from Ford as to what Maverick gets built? If constraints aren't an issue and dealers have allotments those should be built. It's beyond reason that random Mavericks get built while identical ones (identical as far as constraints and allotment) don't get built. It's like some two-year-old draws names out of a bowl or a computer randomly pulls the name of the lucky Maverick order.
