Chances are if there is price protection it will only be with your current dealer should you decide to order from many dealers the others will be new orders and not rollovers. When i ordered my Porsche many years ago i was invited (for a price) to go to the factory and watch it roll off the assembly line, drive it around Europe then return it to the factory for shipment to the states. They should do that with Mexico and the Maverick but just head for the border,

That's right because the base model will more than likely not be $1995 after 2022. Just my opinion.
My end of July order will hopefully be built soon, take a month-long rest break in the warm Mexico desert parking lot; then get the finishing touches (add missing parts), to then make its way from Mexico to southern CA to then wait in transit to the dealer for another unknown period of time. When my Maverick finally is delivered to me it will be well rested, the paint totally cured and all the glue hard. Meanwhile my down payment grows larger and larger and larger. Not a bad story. THE END!
I think the base XL price will remain the same. It is a bragging right to have a hybrid truck under 20K. That said i also believe they will be limited production (except fleet buyers) sort of like they did with the base F-150 Lightening. Just my guess.

If ordering starts as above, what date do you think MY22 orders will roll to MY23 and we will be able to review the orders for the MY23 updates. My guess is August 8th but have no real idea or experience @fordvidioguy
If your maverick isn’t built by October 21, 2022 then you will be pushed to a 23.

Well, at least ford will only be two months behind orders when they start production instead of 4.

maybe put in several orders....
Putting in several orders at multiple dealerships now seems like a popular thing to do, because why wouldn't you? But, this will become a huge problem.

Honestly, Ford needs to take large downpayments, and go in order of who ordered first, and/or who put the largest down-payment down, especially if it's non refundable. If you put down $5000 non-fundable day one, why SHOULDN'T you be one of the first to get a Maverick?

I would have paid the ENTIRE COST in cash with a one time payment at the time of order if I could have got a Maverick by now. Instead, I ordered June 10th, no money down because they didn't ask, and I still have nothing. I can't really even complain because it's no skin off my back.

And that's why Ford doesn't care.

Make them care.

If my January order isn't here by August, and the price increases in MY23 aren't crazy, I'll definitely be placing a MY23 order and then deciding what to do if/when the MY22 order finally shows up.

At that point, just waiting another 6-8 months for a 23 could be quite attractive, especially if they are any significant new features or options added.
Just think, yours and my 2022 will already be a year old on the market by the time we receive it. We should get a discount. Pray the resale value holds strong. Just saying.

Oh, don't think I'm not going to call Ford and complain. Maybe they'll offer a discount and put a rebate on our accounts? Can't hurt to ask.

Oh yeah if I have to go to MY23 I'm definitely going to place multiple orders!
1 at every stealership that doesn’t take a down payment.

But but but….. ford is going to a customer order business model and not just stocking dealers with product …… 😂

this certainly doesn't help with build and parts order forecasting. For all the people complaining on here that "FORD SHOULD HAVE KNOWN how many vehicles they could build and the parts needed and acquired in advance!"- this is a major reason why things get hung up. Placing multiple phantom orders may make people think they are outsmarting Ford to make sure THEY GET THEIRS, but it's selfish and actually hurts others trying to follow the rules and receive their truck.

IMO, better to NOT order at all until you KNOW exactly what your build is and confident you won't be calling your dealer to make changes multiple times after you have ordered.

2023 Maverick ordering opens August 16 and production begins October 24
Extremely late considering they started taking 2022 orders on June 9th.
Well, at least ford will only be two months behind orders when they start production instead of 4.
What @Decayed said...

This way, the "perceived wait time" for the earliest orders will be shorter, even though they won't get their trucks any earlier in the year. (Only about a month shorter, though, because production is also starting later in 2022.)

Well, Ford is scheduling about 2 months out, so think there will be a 6 week to perhaps 2 months window before Oct 24 that Ford would be rolling the orders over to MY23, which will give us to make any changes in time to be scheduled at the head of the MY23 line.

My 23 baby maverick is on the way.
Problem is that it is looking like the father Jeep rubicon.

Ford Maverick 🗓 Update: 2023 Maverick ordering opens August 15 (Hybrid) & August 25 (Gas). Production begins October 24 (All Models) 20220210_154952

How soon are they likely to specify what the MY23 options are?
What was last year like?
there was no last year- current 2022 model is 1st year of production on Maverick.
