If you reordered your Maverick TODAY… what trim are you picking?
(SINCE SO MANY PEOPLE VOTED AND DISCCUSED ECOBOOST VS HYBRID I THOUGHT WHY NOT ASK THIS)

  • XL
  • XLT
  • Lariat

And did owning your current one change your opinion at all?

I feel like when these trucks first came out everyone thought one trim was clearly the “best” depending on budget/use, but after actually living with them for a few years now I feel like opinions changed a lot.

XL:
• cheapest/simple
• steelies honestly became part of the Maverick look at this point
• probably the best blank canvas
• but also missing a lot of stuff people later wish they had

XLT:
• feels like the trim most people ended up buying
• solid middle ground
• better looks/features without getting too crazy on price
• probably the “safest” choice overall

Lariat:
• definitely feels the most complete
• nicer interior/tech/features
• best daily driver?
• but the price climbs FAST

Tremor:
• one of the coolest looking trims Ford made honestly
• feels way more aggressive from factory
• some people love it
• other people think it’s overpriced and would rather build an FX4 themselves

Lobo:
• probably the most controversial Maverick now
• some people think it’s sick Ford finally made a street version
• others think lowering a truck completely defeats the point 😭

What’s funny is I feel like BEFORE ownership everyone shops based on price…

But AFTER ownership people care way more about:
• comfort
• looks
• daily driving
• practicality
• uniqueness
• whether the trim still feels worth the money later on

So if you could reorder today what trim are you going with?
Does this mean that you would stay with the same trim you have now?

It would still be a Lariat but with the FX/4 package if it is available.

I think it likely that the trimming is a case of chasing cost savings, and the attempt is to deliver what they consider to be the most popular features at an affordable price.
Materials costs haven't remained static.
The point you miss is they build for the 95%, not the 5%.
What you view as a simple and easy when multiplied at production levels becomes a major logistical problem and a considerable expense without a corresponding return.

Customization is a viable option and is more effective than wishing, unless you have a lamp.

A lumbar support doesn't have to be built into the seat, you can buy a cushion which is a pretty easy fix.
I'm well aware those cusions exist. Most cars are not built for people with long legs, and cramping my legs sacrificing valuable space int he seat for a cushion isnt my idea of comfortable. Hence why I paid for better seats.

Here's the thing about "trimming". If you are going to go with the "we need fewer configs to reduce costs" thing, then we've already failed at the first hurdle, as the Maverick has FOUR different driver seats. There's the 6 way XL/XLT, the 8 way XLT lux, the 8 way Lariat lux, and also the 8 way XLT non lux that isnt heated, but that one is a fleet option.

So how much harm is a 5th option going to make? Why have 4 seats if its such a big deal, when you could just do 2 (the XL and the lariat seat)? A $2k charge would more then cover the costs of custom ordering, just throw it on the end of a production run.

Also I'm not talking about trimming. If you read my comment again, you'll see I referenced going to the dealer to get the seat added. Not the configurator. AFTER I bought my GLI I went to the dealer and got a Autobahn R seat from a higher trim Golf installed in my Jetta. This is doable because VW uses the same mounting hardware and same modules across everything they make.

Ford, OTOH, wont do this. There is no reason to restrict cross pollination, as I said. Cars dont NEED to be silo'd instances of design, they can share parts and allow customization if they just LET us do it.

So you are "willing to pay the silly $2k price, why shouldn't I be able to go to a ford dealer and get the Lincoln corsair seats put in my Mav? "

You are assuming that a Ford Maverick and the Lincoln Corsair have interchangeable seats that you can just slide right in. That's highly doubtful.

If the seat won't fit the existing mounts or has different wiring harness connections, or other install issues since they were not designed for the Maverick, no dealership would do that.

Changing seat mounts can have significant liabilty implications, and few dealerships do any custom shop work, as that isn't their business.

What's stopping you from getting the seat you want and putting in in yourself, or having it done at an auto body shop?

That's what most people do who want custom work performed.

I think the seat frame is different between the 6-way and the 8-way. (manual and power?) After that I think it's just adding the heater, covers and wiring. Otherwise there's also the Tremor and Lobo seats. The Corsair and the Maverick are both the C2 platform so it's like they will bolt in, probably a thread on MTC somewhere about it. Now the modules will need to be programmed so it isn't plug-n-play.

Stripper XL 2.0 awd for less than $25k

Maverick at over $28k certainly not a good price proposition. Entry level frontier sells for that much.

At $35k maverick lariat you can buy a Colorado / ranger 4x4

At $40k maverick you can buy Tacoma trd off road.

Every truck you list as an alternative is NOT the same type vehicle as the Maverick. I could have bought any of those trimmed out anyway I wanted. I'm of the mind that if I am going to be driving something for years I want the creature comforts I want. But ALL of those trucks were just as high off the ground as the Silverado I wanted to replace so just as hard to load and unload, climb up into and down out of, and had same or worse fuel mileage as the Silverado. But yeah if you want a base model go for it. After all it is YOUR vehicle not mine so it should be what YOU want not what I want. P.S. I have owned 2 4 x 4 vehicles in my life. Never needed to use the 4 wheel drive on either of them for commuting. So lot of additional gas used, maintenance, and other costs for driving on pavement doesn't appeal to me.

Truck is truck.

Truck is meant for work period.

My money goes where it get most out of it.

You do you.

So since I retired I can no longer drive a truck? Sorry I will sell it today. Didn't mean to violate the work laws 🤣 . But if you are doing REAL work you would not buy a Maverick to begin with. So what is the definition of work? Maybe I need a xl for when I do work, and SUV for when I am hauling passengers, a scooter when running errands, a smart car for local driving, maybe a whole fleet of vehicles for specific uses. Or I can get want I want to cover 90% of those situations with my Larait Maverick.
I of course I will always do ME because I do not need nor want your approval of my life choices. Also I feel no need to denigrate your choices or celebrate them if they align with mine.

Yes - for helping folks move & occasional bicycle hauling:) Have a few scratches in the bed but the tonneau cover keeps them unexposed. Have a full coverage bed mat too.

Rarely have a back seat passenger (once) and passenger seat is almost as rarely used. Very happy with my “weekend car” Lobo.

Would not have been a good fit for me earlier in life however. But work commuting & taking kid to schools is in the rear view mirror. Lobo is a combo of a “hot hatch” & easy access truck bed - perfect for me now:)
Can you post a link to the full coverage bed mat you bought?

I like my '22 XLT Ecoboost, but I don't know about buying another one. The power windows suck. Only driver's window is Express down w/no express up. All windows work so slow 🤦 And the power driver's seat is not fully functional like an 8-way power seat.🤨
I think the people who ordered XL's, and XLT's might go up to the next higher trim level after reading reports on this forum. The only way to have certain options, is to upgrade. Early buyers, like myself, only had 3 trims to pick from, and now there are 5, I think also AWD hybrids, and better optioned XLT's. Again, the bargain days are over, to get more, you pay more.
