If you reordered your Maverick TODAY… what trim are you picking?
(SINCE SO MANY PEOPLE VOTED AND DISCCUSED ECOBOOST VS HYBRID I THOUGHT WHY NOT ASK THIS)

  • XL
  • XLT
  • Lariat
  • Tremor
  • Lobo

And did owning your current one change your opinion at all?

I feel like when these trucks first came out everyone thought one trim was clearly the “best” depending on budget/use, but after actually living with them for a few years now I feel like opinions changed a lot.

XL:
• cheapest/simple
• steelies honestly became part of the Maverick look at this point
• probably the best blank canvas
• but also missing a lot of stuff people later wish they had

XLT:
• feels like the trim most people ended up buying
• solid middle ground
• better looks/features without getting too crazy on price
• probably the “safest” choice overall

Lariat:
• definitely feels the most complete
• nicer interior/tech/features
• best daily driver?
• but the price climbs FAST

Tremor:
• one of the coolest looking trims Ford made honestly
• feels way more aggressive from factory
• some people love it
• other people think it’s overpriced and would rather build an FX4 themselves

Lobo:
• probably the most controversial Maverick now
• some people think it’s sick Ford finally made a street version
• others think lowering a truck completely defeats the point 😭

What’s funny is I feel like BEFORE ownership everyone shops based on price…

But AFTER ownership people care way more about:
• comfort
• looks
• daily driving
• practicality
• uniqueness
• whether the trim still feels worth the money later on

So if you could reorder today what trim are you going with?
Does this mean that you would stay with the same trim you have now?

It's my very first one Ian I have a '25 Tremor. I'd run it back.

I like my '22 XLT Ecoboost, but I don't know about buying another one. The power windows suck. Only driver's window is Express down w/no express up. All windows work so slow 🤦 And the power driver's seat is not fully functional like an 8-way power seat.🤨

Short answer, FWD XLT. At this point Ford has stripped away a lot of features, massively increased the price and put HVAC stuff on the oversized screen, so I’d hesitate to get a newer Maverick if I didn’t need 4K towing and AWD. If I did XLT would still be the choice. Would still go with Lux package and go without the 360 co-pilot nanny stuff like I did in 2022.

XL: A little too bare bones for me, although it is likely the best value for the money given the build quality of the vehicle inside and out. At least with this trim the price increases have brought more features, not taken them away. That is not something you can say for the rest of the trims.

XLT/XLT with Lux package: Basic package with better wheels and features. For me, Lux package because I like the adjustments of the power seat, heated seat, wrapped and heated steering wheel, heated wiper park*, backseat arm rest with cup holders*, included bedliner, and sliding bed rails.

Lariat: To me just overpriced with fake plastic leather seats, which is a hard no for, since they get hot and sticky in summer and crazy cold in winter. Interior is otherwise the same cheap scratchy plastic. If it had more soft touch material, it might be worth it, but as is meh. Not into having a sunroof or rear sliding window. At least before MY25 there was some value in the improved infotainment system and keyless start, now that the XLT has those things, why bother? 19 inch wheels, meh, I like the XL/XLTs 17s with more rubber between me and the road, not to mention way more tire options down the road. At this price point still no power folding exterior mirrors, auto dimming rear view mirror or home link? I guess if you are one of the people who has to have the fancy DRLs for appearance sake the Lariat is for you?

Tremor: No interest or appeal at all not, just not an off road fanatic or overlander extremist. Only EB engine choice = hard no.

Lobo: Not into low riders, tuned vehicles and that kind of stuff. Talk about skin on a pig… the price. :ROFLMAO: Only EB engine choice = hard no.

* = no long available or not available for XLT
I buy lariats for the extra safety features(BLIS, lane keep, reverse sensing and adaptive cruise control) yes the XLT has some of those features now but I want those 4 things.

I pay attention while driving, don’t need a nanny. I drove an 22 escape loaner with those features, half the time they didn’t even work anyway.

I was originally shopping for a Lariat, but landed on an XLT with blackout and lux packages as it was an end-of-month deal and the dealer made it worth my while. Quite happy as this was a great compromise of options vs price level, but If I ordered from scratch - deals aside - I would lean back to the Lariat for the few options I missed out on like adaptive cruise, etc..

Don't like the lobo other than the interior colour, and the tremor is nice but not the point of these trucks IMHO - all image, no substance.

XLT Lux. I was looking at a Lariat, but just could not see spending the extra money on it. The XLT Lux package has almost everything I wanted for a bit better price point. If I was still commuting, I may have gone with the Lariat, but probably not. The Lux package added better seats, butt warmers, heated wheel, etc. It was a good compromise on cost and features.

Adaptive cruise control was my must have, as was hybrid.
I found standard cruise control to be useless in the California central valley since 2000. I'd try to be good and set my speed to 5+ and run the slow lane only to find I'm running up on someone going slower. I'd look in my mirror and see a whole line of cars passing me, so cancel the CC. Once there'd be a break, pass and resume only to repeat just a few miles further on the road. Pretty quick I'm bumping my speed up to match the flow, but now I'm 15+ and having to watch for CHP.
I would like AWD, but really don't want the screen "mounted" controls. My too-short-of-a-daily commute and monthly 3hr trips to see family really isn't where the hybrid shines. PHEV would be the perfect setup. It worked really well for me in the Fusion I had before my EffNo50.
Our city streets are pretty bad, so my dash cam, set to it's least sensitive setting, senses impacts very often. I've already changed to 17" tires and wheels which help, but I'm thinking about changing to the Tremor front suspension as many have mentioned it riding nicer and would like a more leveled stance.
If I had to replace what I have now, I'd look for a deal on a pre '25 Lariat Tremor with BAP (because I'm still not into that fun, bowling-shoe-inspired interior).

That build looks awesome! I'm totally down with a setup like that on an FX4. Yes, I think that would match that Raptor sort of look/feel.
Do you have a picture of yours right now? Have you done anything to it?

The tech of the Lariat but they need to fix the colors. Blue dash with brown/black seats and black floors and electric blue flashes and red or green paint was all just too much clash.

Tremor toned the interior/exterior mismatch down a lot. I also think it rides better somehow.
The tremor does have slight changes that could make it feel like it does ride better so I hear you! And about the colors I hear you!, I wanted green but I could not get over the color clashing when you would open the door

I needed to borrow an XL Eco Boost for a weekend trip because my own full size truck was temporarily unavailable. After that trip I felt the XL Eco Boost Maverick was the ideal truck for me. My needs have changed and I really don't need a full-sized truck anymore. At that time, new XL's were on a sales hold for a recall, so I started looking at used Mavericks. I found a nice low mileage used Lariat Hybrid for about the same price as a new XL, so I went for it. I really like this truck and the added features of the Lariat package. I have put close to 20,000 miles on it and it has only needed routine maintenance, no problems at all!

So with that in mind does that mean you would just get the XL? Save the extra money since you don't find the XLT worth? Or would you instead want those features so get the lariat!

I pay attention while driving too, but an extra ounce of precaution is worth a pound of cure. That reverse sensing is great in parking lots when you have large vehicles parked next to you and the adaptive cruise is great in urban interstate driving.

Totally makes sense! You buy "lariats"? Does that mean you have multiple mavericks?!?
