If you reordered your Maverick TODAY… what trim are you picking?

I own a 2025 XLT. I would buy another XLT again. It is the most balanced trim. The XL is too basic and the Lariat too much $ for accesories on a cheap truck. The only thing I really miss on the XLT trim is the ACC but I cant justify the price difference for that one feature so XLT for me.

That is pretty much true for all manufacturers.
A la carte options seem few and far between.
Try to get cable or a satellite service without paying for all of the dead wood channels you never will watch. Fortunately, there's a Roku fix for that.

In the case of Ford, and most other car makers, if they made all the choices optional, it would not only be more difficult to manufacture, but it would likely lower the profit margin, as there would be no reason to order a more expensive trim level, when you could add everything you want to the base model. The maker makes money by including options you don't need or want.

Good points on the rest of your post, as there are many model year differences that make assigning a future trim level buying decision a dubious exercise, as the trims are a moving target.

The packaging is normal, but on de-contenting Ford is the king.

Other manufacturers occasionally delete a feature but Ford seems to make it a mandate. Every year they remove something. The GLI, from 19 to its redesign for 24, was identical. The Ram 1500 lost its 4 way lumbar in 22 going back to 2 way, but otherwise had the same options from 19 to today.

In my post on hybred vs ecoboost, I stated that I don't like to spend a big ole bunch of money on what I consider a tool to get me to and from places. I need reliability over all else. I did fork out extra money for some creature comforts and even optional safety packages but the total cost for reliable transportation was low.

I don't need premium leather (I don't like hot leather on a summer day anyway). I don't need blacked out badges. I don't know what all features you get for extra money but the XLT met my base needs plus.

The only thing I wish I had on my XLT is the adaptive cruise control. It would mke raod trips easier. Not to worry. Using these forums, I'm working on adding that feature.

For me Lumbar is mandatory. Anything without it is just impossible to use.

I wish it was easier to get replacement seats. Like, if I'm willing to pay the silly $2k price, why shouldn't I be able to go to a ford dealer and get the Lincoln corsair seats put in my Mav? I did this with my GLI, getting a Golf R seat put in, and it was absolutely worth the $$$$. The auto industry needs to get past the proprietary silliness for parts and embrace cross pollination.

We have an early 2022 XLT eco FX4 Lux tow package …and I’m probably forgetting what else. Back then that basically loaded your truck with everything all you didn’t get was pleatherette seats and Lariat Sticker. Probably some other items but - we’d do the same again today. Truck has been excellent.

All we could wish for would be power rear window (lariat only), better resolution rear view camera and that useless cubby fixed/changed.

I think it likely that the trimming is a case of chasing cost savings, and the attempt is to deliver what they consider to be the most popular features at an affordable price.
Materials costs haven't remained static.
The point you miss is they build for the 95%, not the 5%.
What you view as a simple and easy when multiplied at production levels becomes a major logistical problem and a considerable expense without a corresponding return.

Customization is a viable option and is more effective than wishing, unless you have a lamp.

A lumbar support doesn't have to be built into the seat, you can buy a cushion which is a pretty easy fix.

I would probably would still pick XLT, but unfortunately I can't get a new Maverick appointed like my current one, which is perfect for me. Forcing lux on the FX4 and Co-pilot 360 on the 4K package is bullshit, and would increase the price a few thousand for options I don't need or want. Considering that and the de-contented gauge cluster, I'm sure glad I bought a 2024 and didn't wait for Gen 2.

Yup went with the 24 XLT Lux and Black Appearance package. Real knobs and dials for Radio and Climate controls. The dealer discounted the Lux and Black Appearance package from my price as it was one of the only XLT hybrids left around.

I would not add Black Appearance package again since they bundle that with AWD! WTAF. Hate the way the bundle options. What does black wheels have to do with AWD!

I'm undecided.
I love my xlt, but there are a few things on a lariat that I would like and a few things on a lariat that I don't want.
Let's go back to the days of ordering individual options instead of packages.
My 88 Mustang only has like 3 options. Got an automatic, A/C, and the bittersweet stripe to NOT get the painted on pinstripe.

Same here. I like the wheels and seats better on the XLT but would like to have adaptive cruise and a back slider window. It wasn't worth the extra $4k+ at the time and figured I could add these at a later date. To be honest, if I would have known how much I like this vehicle I may have went with a Lariat to save the pain of trying to add those later.

I would get the same spec XL that I already have with one important change; I would add the CoPilot 360 since it was the only way to get power mirrors on an XL. My sales guy neglected to tell me this when I ordered and it's my only regret.

I bought my Maverick with the intention to modify it to be a daily driven street/sport truck. I ordered the XL with 2.0 EB engine, AWD, tow package, and a spray in bed liner. The tow package adds better cooling (better fan, bigger radiator, trans cooler), better gearing, and requires AWD. All of these are items you want for a performance oriented build. Ford themselves recommends the EB AWD XL with the towing package as the starting point for thier new 300T performance kit.

Beyond the above, I also didn't see many of the items in the higher trim levels as upgrades; especially the "vegan leather" seats. Overall, I'm extremely happy with what I ordered and would do it again in a hearbeat.

I was talking to our mailman who drives a Ford Transit EV as a mail delivery vehicle. The touch screen went out last week. 105° No knobs = no air conditioning. He's back in his 17 year old Grumman LLV still with no air conditioning but at least it has a fan.

Being able to get an XLT Tremor was awesome. But of course, any time something is actually good value, Ford discontinues it, lol. If I did it again, as much as I love the Tremor, I dont see myself paying the 40+k for it now. I'd just go with a XLT hybrid AWD.

Lariat for me. Don't like the price BUT the extra features are certainly nice to have. Retired and $$$ is not so much a problem like when I was younger. Can't take it with you so may as well enjoy more of the luxuries while I still can!

In hindsight, would move up in trim from XL, probably to XLT.

When I was in the market, the thought occurred to me, "why should I pay Ford to mod my truck for me when I could do it myself?" With time, I have some answers:

-hard to find the time and lack the expertise for some mods. I should have taken my situation into account more and substituted $ for projects for which my life hardly has room​

-some things can't easily be done on the consumer side, whereas others (CP360, 4k tow) are downright impossible to rig after the fact​

​

-tradeoff: insurance/warranty coverage: comprehensive would be higher yes, but with anything like this I was going to get ESP anyway. If Ford installed it and it breaks/quits working, it's on them to remedy. For DIY, you're on your own​

​

-feels like a tradeoff: yes Ford gets a bigger pile from the buyer at a thicker margin, but there is a cost savings to their bundled features, despite de-contenting and your wanting a slightly different mix, you could easily spend more money -and to the point, way more time- doing it à la carte, aftermarket​

Part of my thinking at purchase also had to do with seeing myself as a little fish, when in fact my savings could have covered much more. I live 'in poverty', which is not to say that I myself am destitute, but lots of families around here are. I just didn't see myself in luxury, which contributed to my buying what was intended to be a fleet vehicle. Interestingly enough, at the time I ruled out Lariats because of the rear window frame which seemed like it would take away most of my rear view. I'm aware that in later MY you can decline the window option at Lariat.

I'm quite happy with it, and as my first new vehicle it is by far the most luxurious and feature-rich vehicle I've ever had.

I feel like it gave me a lot of extra features that put me closer to the lariat but without adding a ton of extra cost. For that reason, if I bought another Mav it'd likely be XLT. If the Tremor version had 4k tow I'd consider that as well.

I haven't found real leather (used Mercedes, used Volvo, the Fusion I had prior to my Maverick) or Ford's ActiveX to not be a problem with hot or cold like the 80's vinyl seats I had in my younger years. Hotter than cloth, yes, but they don't seem to burn or freeze like the old vinyl.
