Well, after the 3rd visit to my Ford dealer with deep sleep issues and the battery never holding a charge, they said the battery was bad this time! Just wanted to verify that this is indeed an AGM battery. My original battery also had AGM on it, but not as BIG lettering. 2024 XL Hybrid

Great, thank you very much! Hopefully this will help with the deep sleep mode for a while!

I'm guessing it'll last a little longer than a flooded battery.
It would be nice if Ford could find the root cause of the parasitic/phantom drain.
So far, I've had great luck with removing the telematics fuse 11/12.
I'm still using my original 2023 Ford flooded battery.

Here is a post I made October of 25 including an update
https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/f...-charge-12v-battery.65180/page-2#post-1227714
It's been a year since I hooked up my charger/maintainer directly to the battery posts.
Last April was the last time I posted in this thread.

Here is my 1 year update and experience. Oct. 25 - Oct. 25

Currently: October 2025
It has been a year since I hooked up my battery charger / maintainer directly to the battery posts.🤷🏼‍♂️
Last Oct. 2024.
Prior to charging, I pulled fuse 11/12.
I charged the battery overnight and before doing anything in the morning, I did the 8 hour Battery BMS Relearn Procedure.

This July 2025 I reinstalled fuse 11/12, to see what would happen.
I have not had one single incidence of low battery or interior lights not coming on.

UPDATE 10-28-25
No interior lights.
Again removed fuse 11/12 charged battery overnight. In the morning I did the battery relearn, 5 High Beam Flashes, 3 Brake Pedal Pushes and wait for the battery light to flash 3 times. Now it's a 8 hour wait and see.

My maintainer is still hooked directly up to my battery, even though I haven't used it in a year.
My conclusion:
Having hooked up the charger/maintainer cables directly to the battery terminals and charged it, hasn't hurt a darn thing,
It worked exactly as I expected.
Not one person has explained what dire consequences were supposed to happen. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Superstition is kind of keeping me from disconnecting it.🤞

Updated 2-10-26
Fuse 11/12 still disconnected.
With a total of 86 miles driven the previous week and 48 hours since the truck was last driven and all the lights still came on when the door was opened.

Not only did I pull fuse 11/12 when I replaced my home modem/ router I never allowed the truck to hook up to it.
I realize that it is inconvenient for some folks not to have the Telecommunications from the truck to their phones. It's a Ford advertised feature that should work without draining the battery.
In my circumstance it does not bother me. Personally I would rather have my battery maintain a charge, rather than having my truck and my phone communicate to each other and end up with a sulfating low battery.

And as long as that is their only focus regarding BMS system - it'll never get fixed.

Big difference in the Hybrid systems 540 cca compared to to my Ecoboost with its 760 cca

Mine says ‘FoMoCo’ on the battery
Way cooler than saying Ford Motor Company :’P

Harley Davidsons cool abbreviation is
simply, ‘MoCo’ I think.

Ford has different labels for factory installed batteries and the ones sold for retail through dealerships/resellers.

As for CCA, yeah the EB needs more it has an old fashion alternator, no need for the CCA in the hybrid since the electric motor starts the ICE from the way more powerful lithium pack.

That’s what I got too, about four months ago. Posters here say it’ll work 18-30 months and the messages will reemerge. They’re probably right. I’ll address it then. You can tell a dealer shop all about underlying issues but if they give you a free battery upgrade and look at you, you kind of accept it as step one. I don’t regret the purchase. I don’t need a Tacoma or Frontier getting 19 mpg.

Cold Cranking Amps is important in the Ecoboost with a starter motor but essentially immaterial in the hybrid. A higher amperage battery in the hybrid actually complicates it as the charging circuit strains to fully charge the 50Ah Motorcraft AGM.

No, AGM printed on the battery means Another Goofy Maverick, lol. Good luck! I have the 2025 with the AGM battery and it goes dead all the time in cold weather. Today it was in deep sleep at only 32°F. It was driven 170 miles so it should have been fully charged.

It's not an AGM or lead acid battery issue, the batteries begin life in the hybrid truck normally then the software driven 12v charging system fails to maintain the battery properly which leads to its early demise. The other issue is high power drain at key off pulling the battery charge level down.

My Maverick has bricked at 6v twice after a 54 mile drive home at below 32°F. My dealer blamed it on an OBDII reader and a 12 phone charger. Hogwash! Blatant cowardice to not admit they are clueless on a solution and instead they just blamed the customer.

I believe it's the same garbage engineering that was used on the 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid that I owned. It eats batteries too. My brother has it now and it's gone dead twice with a 2023 Napa battery to replace the 1-1/2 year old Motorcraft battery that failed. Ford would not honor the 36-month Motorcraft warranted battery they installed and denied having installed it. They somehow even deleted the battery maintenance record from Ford's system.

And am I right in assuming the electric drive system spins up the ICE when needed ?

If so why did Ford not put a deep cycle marine battery in the Mavbrid ?

If the charging system actually did its job and fully charged the battery, and if there was not another unintended power draw, then any cheap battery would do the job for a lot of years. They now put in AGM batteries to hide the symptoms until the warranty is finished, instead of fixing the cause.

Exactly. They use a bandage when surgery is likely needed.
