I have not had a low battery problem or any problem since I hooked it up, charged it and reset the bms once in October.
I wanted to hook up my charger easiest way possible with the least amount of resistance. That meant hooking it up to the top of the posts.

What problem should I be looking for?
Since the BMS cannot see the extra charge that you are putting in, it is not clear what it will do. If you charge on the other side of the BMS block or from under the hood, then it will behave differently. Given that it is out of control with its broken software leaving the battery chronically undercharged, maybe its a good thing that it can't see your extra charge. On the other hand, maybe not...

It's been a year since I hooked up my charger/maintainer directly to the battery posts.
Last April was the last time I posted in this thread.

Here is my 1 year update and experience. Oct. 25 - Oct. 25

You have the battery maintainer hooked up wrong. It should be on the other side of the BMS device, and not to the battery post. The BMS can not detect that you are charging it at all the way that you have it wired.

It has been a year since I hooked up my battery charger / maintainer directly to the battery posts.🤷🏼‍♂️
Last Oct. 2024.
Prior to charging, I pulled fuse 11/12.
I charged the battery overnight and before doing anything in the morning, I did the Battery BMS Relearn Procedure.

This July 2025 I reinstalled fuse 11/12, to see what would happen.
I had NOT had one single incidence of low battery or interior lights not coming on previous to reinstalling fuse 11/12.

UPDATE 10-28-25
No interior lights. 9-20-25
Again removed fuse 11/12 charged battery overnight. In the morning I did the battery relearn, 5 High Beam Flashes, 3 Brake Pedal Pushes and wait for the battery light to flash 3 times. Everything off lock the truck for 8 hours. Now it's wait and see.

My maintainer is still hooked directly up to my battery, even though I haven't used it in a year.
My conclusion:
Having hooked up the charger/maintainer cables directly to the battery terminals and charged it, hasn't hurt a darn thing,
It worked exactly as I expected.
Not one person has explained what dire consequences were supposed to happen. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Superstition is kind of keeping me from disconnecting it.🤞

👉Update 2-17-25👈
All the lights are coming on when I open the door just fine.
