FWIW, some(many?) earlly build ecoboosts came with FLA batteries, not the AGM as I think was the original spec'd battery. My experience is that the non-AGM will tend to go to 'sleep' to save the battery from discharge to the point you cannot start the engine.
This happened within the first few weeks of ownership, so has nothing to do with battery aging.
I happen to have the 'Camel" branded battery with the faulty internal connection. Supposedly it will be replaced with an AGM within the next quarter. Umm-hm. Hopefully that will reduce the battery that wants to nod off all the time.
I believe the target SOC was set to improve fuel mileage by limiting the energy consumed in charging the battery(no matter the type) by limiting the target to 80% of a fully charged battery. FORSCAN can be used to determine the target SOC.( State Of Charge), or change it as desired.
It is a nuisance at worst, but maybe an AGM will make it even less so. A 500 mile freeway trip will not charge the battery to a point it will enable Auto S/S for more than a few operations. Very narrow limit between too low a charge for Auto S/S to operate and the target SOC set.
Time will tell.

I use Schumacher battery minders. Since I am seasonal between Florida and Ohio, I own several. Two(2) in Florida, and three (3)in Ohio. I have been using these for years now.

I currently have the noco genius 2. Some people like the 5. The 2 seems to work just fine for me. They have them at Walmart or Amazon.
I use them to prolong the life of my riding mower battery and the Maverick 12v battery. I bought quick connect adapters for the mower and the truck. Takes me about 30 seconds to connect it.

By keeping lead acid batteries fully charged, they may last many years longer than if allowed to discharge too much. I have often gotten batteries to last a year or two longer than they were rated for by doing this.

Awesome, THANKS! I've ordered a battery monitor so that I can monitor the charge/discharge rate to get a better look at what's going on.

Ive seen several of these Amazon AGM batteries at very reasonable prices. As these generally carry 3 year replacement warranties what could we expect the return policy to be over say a locally purchased (more expensive) AGM? This problem just screams battery replacement within 3 years so will likely be replaced under warranty... :cautious:
Read warranties some are prorated resulting in declining payment for replacement.
