Please let me know if they replace these for you. Seeing your truck is lowered. My dealer gave me a hard time about looking into a noise I had up front, because my truck is lowered as well.
your dealership sucks...

when a vehicle is lowered, the cv joint angularity decreases, which will at worst keep the same service life. it's the opposite of cv joint issues when a vehicle is lifted.

Just saw this on my FordPass App and also a post showing the actual CSP on Facebook.

I wonder if this one time deal would count if it was repaired already under warranty before this CSP was issued or if it can be used after the powertrain warranty expires and in needs to be repaired again? That is my situation currently.

I noticed mine on a road trip where uphill above 30-40% throttle on the power meter, I would get a slight shimmy. At 60%+, it would shake a lot more. By the end of the roadtrip, 20-30+% throttle would cause the shimmy. Dealer put the truck on the lift, found play in both half shafts and replaced them. They told me it was their 5th replacement that week! No more issues since.
R they putting in the same old crappy halfshafts as replacements

They will likely extend this recall/warranty extension to 2023-24 model years, as I had to replace my axles on my 2023 XL @ 34k miles. And I know some people see my truck being lowered and will point out that's what caused the failure, but they were actually failing before I lowered mine. Hopefully whatever the revised part is much better than what was on their before, only time will tell!

I don't know what all trucks are affected by this as I have an ecoboost, but I think some folks seeing this have hybrid.

as far as I know:
hybrid has a revised part number that debuted on MY25 but is also the current part for 22-24. *no one* has yet torn apart a new pn hybrid halfshaft and looked at the cv joint itself to see if it's still the shitty design or if it has a good bearing design like the tremor.

ecoboost non tremor does not have a revised part. it would be the same original part, and not tremor, the way this CSP reads.

there was no tremor in 2022 so if/when this program is expanded to include MY23, I'm curious if the tremor will also be covered by it. perhaps not, since the tremor cv joint is vastly improved and the axle itself is beefier also.

if I'm wrong about any of the above, someone please chime in.

I have a '23 Lariat Ecoboost FX4 and these are the part numbers I put in of/from the Tremor Models that are compatible to the Eco. Definitely a beefier upgrade that will hopefully solve the problem.

I am elated , can't wait to get the notice in the mail and file it in the glovebox .
I'm only averaging 3k miles a year and was concerned about the drivetrain warranty " timing out " before the axles might fail .

haven't read the whole thread, is this something I can check for while I'm changing the oil? like just grab ahold of this SOB and try to move it and see if it rattles around or something?

eta: I use ramps so perhaps not? do the front wheels need to be "free"?

Happened upon this great video that demonstrates both the driving nature of the issue - and the manual check for it.

Not a Maverick - but still.
Just wish he'd done a corner where I've always had it show up first.
Don't be jealous of the mileage!

What if you are not experiencing front-end acceleration vibration (how bad is it?)? Will this CSP expire at some point or is this open-ended, or will they just replace them on request?
Yes it expires. Didn't you read it?

Question, so is valid Only for the vehicles built during the date ranges noted or any any model year out of the normal power train warranty covered?
The recall (extended warranty) will only cover the vehicles built within the window listed by ford. It kicks in when the normal 5/60 Powertrain warranty expires. Sometimes Ford will include more vehicles later on. But for now only the listed vehicles are covered
Possible that if it's only a torn boot and not any shaking symptoms that the repair would not be covered. Boots can get torn by hitting potholes/objects or tow truck drivers who don't know how to chain up a front end. Torn boots do for sure end up causing internal problems but a torn boot in itself may not be a covered warranty item.
Technically, you’re correct. But pretty much any dealer will cover it Because the recall doesn’t exclude boot damage. And most shop arent going to fight the customer on this. And if the axles are returned to Ford with a ruptured boot , Ford will assume it’s malfunctioning

if it’s bad, you’ll feel it when you drive. Most likely it’s not something you can feel by visual inspection or just by shaking it.

Is it safe to assume that most of these axels for all models excluding the Tremor, will fail before their normal expected life span? After reading all of these posts and horror stories I am preparing to expect the inevitable. Is there anyone out there with relatively high mileage (75 to 100k) who hasn’t experienced failure?

I got one half shaft replaced recently. I was frustrated they didn't do both. Its a relief to get this extension of the time these parts are covered. Now to bring my truck back in, again, because I seem to have the Exhaust Gas Heat Recovery System issue. This was less frustrating before we got rid of our spare car.

I have 99,860 Miles on mine and haven't experienced any vibration during acceleration and no grease leaking from the boots.
