  1. How often to change engine oil on a hybrid Maverick?

I was follow the oil life monitor. When it gets to about 10%. With the way I drive, it's about 11,000 miles.
  2. After 2 years, I’m back!

I work at a dealership also. If they had an eruption green Maverick on our lot, I would have gotten it. And the black appearance package would have been icing on the cake. But alas, they only had and Oxford White with the black appearance package. In that case, the black appearance package was a...
  3. Consensus on preferred engine oil?

The consensus is that there's no consensus 😂
  4. Consensus on preferred engine oil?

Since I work at Ford, I'll use the recommended 0w-20 Motorcraft full synthetic oil. If I didn't, I'd use ANY brand of full synthetic 0w-20 except Quaker State. Quaker State is probably fine too. But my Dad didn't like Quaker State based on the1960s and 1970s formula that would sludge up. So I...
  5. Consensus on preferred engine oil?

And like politics and religion, people will get mad and become rude if you disagree with them. 😂.
  6. What Made You Choose the Maverick Over Other Trucks?

I've probably answered this before. But these are additional reasons. As a Ford tech I've been intrigued by the hybrids. Wanted a Fusion or MKZ hybrid. Original intentions: Get a nice used hybrid MKZ and a beater OLD ranger. Then comes the Maverick with an available hybrid. Immediately wanted...
  7. I bid you all Farewell

The Ranger should serve you well . Our customers tend to be satisfied with them . And most of the work we do to them tends to be minor and not very frequent
  8. Maverick Hybrid Deep Sleep "Fix" - SSM 54785 (2022-2024 Maverick - 2.5L Hybrid - No Crank/No Start related to 12V Battery Drain That Has Discharged)

Yes, Ford officially superceded the original battery with an AGM battery as a replacement. And the 2025-2026 are factory equipped with an AGM battery. It was a wise decision because the parasitic drain on the hybrid is slightly higher even when working properly. And an AGM battery is more...
  9. Ford Issues Do-Not-Drive Advisory for Certain 2021-2026 Maverick; Owners Urged to Contact Dealerships Immediately (June 1, 2026)

On the affected vehicles , I believe the root cause is a loose or missing bolt on the lower ball joint. I believe the number of affected vehicles must be small because Recalls of this nature (inspection) don't cost Ford a lot of money. (I think they will pay us 0.2 hrs) And the consequences of...
  10. Maverick Hybrid Deep Sleep "Fix" - SSM 54785 (2022-2024 Maverick - 2.5L Hybrid - No Crank/No Start related to 12V Battery Drain That Has Discharged)

Many of the batteries are sulfated by the time we perform the update. We had one battery to pass on the day we performed the update but fail the next week. After the battery was replaced, all was well.
  11. Ford Issues Do-Not-Drive Advisory for Certain 2021-2026 Maverick; Owners Urged to Contact Dealerships Immediately (June 1, 2026)

It's NOT 1% failure rate . Besides it closer to 0.5%.And The 4500 are those POTENTIALLY affected. And of those most will probably pass inspection. How do they know which vin to check? (Admittedly wild speculation) Maybe a particular employee, a day a particular piece of equipment is serviced...
  12. Best tire for MPG (Hybrid 2023 XLT)

I was just about to say the same thing . the treadwear numbers are IN HOUSE comparisons. By the way, some budget brand tires by the same manufacturer may actually UNDERREPORT the numbers (that's legal) . If their top tier and budget tire are the same tire with different labeling , they'll...
  13. Best tire for MPG (Hybrid 2023 XLT)

The Continentals have a 450 or so something tread wear rating. So by their own admission, they wear quickly compared to others
  14. Best tire for MPG (Hybrid 2023 XLT)

The. Michelins are great tires. They may give a slightly better ride. But starting in 2025 Ford began to use the Goodyear in the lariat as well. Maybe they got a better deal. But if treadwear is the priority, the Goodyears are best. If ride, then it's likely the Michelins for the win. Since I...
  15. HYBRID 12V Battery Mystery SOLVED

Better yet, show this to them . Please don't let them know where you got it.
  16. HYBRID 12V Battery Mystery SOLVED

The service advisor/techs are LAZY. All they have to do is pay attention. If it's a 2025 the TSB is 26-2170. If it's a 2022-2024 it's an SSM . That number is SSM 54785. All they had to do was either A. Pay attention to the daily bulletins They were issued on April 16th and April 28. B. Enter...
  17. Ford Issues Do-Not-Drive Advisory for Certain 2021-2026 Maverick; Owners Urged to Contact Dealerships Immediately (June 1, 2026)

It's 4504 affected vehicles out of hundreds of thousands of Mavericks and Bronco sport between 2020 and April 2026. It's safe to say that most vehicles are perfectly safe. Besides, if the ball joint was loose, a person would surely have symptoms by now.
  18. Ford Issues Do-Not-Drive Advisory for Certain 2021-2026 Maverick; Owners Urged to Contact Dealerships Immediately (June 1, 2026)

Understood. But it's less than 5,000 Mavericks and Bronco sport models between the years 2022 and now that are even possibly affected. That's a drop in the bucket
  19. What Made You Choose the Maverick Over Other Trucks?

Main reasons : I could afford it . I work at a Ford dealership and my dad and grandfather usually leaned towards Fords. I am partial to Fords. I kinda needed a truck. But I didn't want or need a big truck. I wanted a hybrid for the fuel economy and the technology . The Maverick was most...
  20. Best tire for MPG (Hybrid 2023 XLT)

I can't say if they're the "best".But they were specified by Ford as the tire for the Maverick with the black appearance package and for the 2026 lariat . I have almost hal I must respectfully disagree with you concerning the Continentals. They simply don't last. Driven gently they will last...
