I’m only 800 miles in so not a lot of wheel time but I have not experienced this at all.

The closest thing I’ve observed is that at very low speeds I can hear (but not feel) the pass of braking from motor generator to brakes. Very faint somewhat of a crunch noise.

Need to add a category.

Rarely mine will lurch when cold.
But never had anything I would call grinding.

Probably what most people mean is the sound of the brake pads. Not the transmission or engine. That's a common sound in every car if you let it "creep" just an inch with foot on the brake.

Mine only seems to do it when it's cold outside. I'll start it up and wait for the idle to drop before I drive it but it still lurches. It seems to go away after the engine gets to operating temperature.

Mine lurches now almost every day when below freezing, seems worse than previous years. Spoke to another hybrid owner last week, says his does the same thing.

Cheers.

500 miles put on my Maverick. I notice it when I stop at a traffic light very close to my driveway after just starting it up and driving in morning. It’s gone by the next light that is 4 blocks away. When I take a different route with the first light about 10 blocks away from my house I don’t notice it. I associate it with the engine being cold.

I've got just under 800 miles on my 2025. It does it most of the time shortly after startup and coming to a stop. It kinda buzzes, and occasionally I can stop it if I hit the brakes a little harder. It's very noticable when it's below freezing.
Typically though it won't do it once warmed up

I didn't respond to the poll as it doesn't have an option for what I experience, which is just some mild lurching, probably only when cold, but I've not paid attention to that.
I have no grinding whatsoever.

For the people who voted that they never experienced this do you live in a place where it doesn't get below 40?
It's been as cold as -5 F here since I picked up my 2025 and I have not experienced it in any weather.

No grinding noise, unless I'm just not calling what I hear grinding to the sound of eCVT on initial cold startup.
Only felt the shimmy when cold ambient temp, engine came on from the get-go due to that, I slipped it to Neutral before the ICE RPM lowered (purely to see if an issue, normally leave in park until that RPM drop).

Observed - the generator RPM (4500 abouts) attempting to counter the engine RPM (1240 abouts) so no power to the drive wheels would cause a creep in Neutral.

Since there is no true neutral like disengaging gears - this is what it has to do to mimic it, and it caused some lurching with brakes pressed until it was warmed up in like 15-20 seconds.

I could see that perhaps having a similar effect in drive where it does attempt to keep some positive torque on wheels so the creep could work when you only light press brakes.
It needs the proper gearing for a light creep, while the generator motor is also used to do some HVB charging since the correct direction.

Maybe some sensors aren't great, and it's adjusting the generator RPM more than it needs to - the engine RPM at those times seems very steady.

Or the clutch plate is showing some problem signs.

There was a post about that, which included general instructions on getting that seated really well, and their issue never came up again. Well, or in the time the thread stopped having posts.

Noticed this noise yesterday for first time when I was stopped at a traffic light on an incline slope. Temp was 50 degrees. Truck had just started up 1 minute prior. It went away shortly after.

nice description of clutch plate.
https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/2-5-hybrid-p0811-code-obd2.13063/post-260773

and the solution to perhaps slightly different issue. (maybe not)
https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/2-5-hybrid-p0811-code-obd2.13063/post-269298

and the result.

@mav47 - any other problems with the clutch plate since couple years ago?

(I used Google search to find that threads - MTC search not so good many times)
