Sounds like it has something to do with the transmission. I'd be okay living with it if I knew it wouldn't hurt the vehicle sometime down the line, but I feel that it can't be good for the internal components of transmission... we'll see I suppose
Agreed, it's just more noticeable in cold weather because it takes the truck much longer to heat up. If I'm driving in the city in sub-zero temps, the truck will take at least 15 minutes to heat up completely, and will lurch/grind/surge until warm.
It's interesting because I'm hearing the same noise as you, but I also getting the lurching. Other owners experience just the lurching with no noises. Most owners in the poll don't experience either seems like. I'm going back and forth with Ford corporate to try for a fix so we will see.
The groaning/lurching is a separate issue from normal brake creaking. The groaning/lurching in OP's video happens in my vehicle even when the brake is pressed very hard, when the truck is in neutral, and when auto-hold is applied.
Maybe it's less of a "grinding" noise and more of a "low rumble" or "deep rattle". I've attached a video of mine. It's hard to tell in the video, but with each rumble noise, the truck would inch forward.
Here's another thread with a video from @e01569 : 2024 Hybrid strange groaning noise from...
Thanks for posting these - haven't seen them yet and have lots of good info. I don't think I've experienced any of the slipping and haven't had any CEL's yet. I'm also a somewhat spirited driver in Orlando and hit WOT a couple times a week. To be sure, I did a few long WOT runs to see if I could...
That's interesting that you get a lurch without the noise. The noise is definitely different than the creeping brake pad noise. It's a grinding/groaning coming from engine area that occurs in tandem with lurches. Mine does not lurch unless it's also making the noise. It almost feels like a bad...
Please check out the poll - trying to get a better idea on how many are impacted.

I've noticed that several Hybrid owners are experiencing the grinding/lurching issue. I would like to understand if it's normal behavior for all Mavericks or just a lucky few. More info on the issue in question...
Hi there, welcome to the forum. Is the sound accompanied by slight lurching like the truck wants to move forward? Can you feel any vibrations in the brake pedal? I think you might be experiencing the issue described in these threads...
I wonder if this happens on ALL Mav hybrids or just some. Here's another thread with more info: Surging when stopped. Anyone else? | MaverickTruckClub - 2022+ Ford Maverick Pickup Forum, News, Owners, Discussions
Absolutely love everything about the truck except low speed hybrid issues. Drove from FL to OH and back, 16 hour trip each way, and was an absolute breeze. Was originally going to get an xl or xlt but couldn't with the camera recall, so ended up in a Lariat and the ACC is a game changer...
Just picked up a '24 Lariat and mine seems to be getting worse and might be worse than what others are experiencing. It will grind/lurch from a cold start until the engine is at full operating temperature - even if it's 80 degrees out. In freezing temperatures city driving, it can take 15+...

Welcome, I'm a new owner as well and my first post was about this same issue at this thread: (5) Engine Lurching @ Idle | MaverickTruckClub - 2022+ Ford Maverick Pickup Forum, News, Owners, Discussions

Agreed on the backup camera fix. I purchased my Lariat off the lot - I really preferred to get a cheaper xl or xlt but couldn't with the stop-sell. Glad I was pushed into the Lariat for the ACC as that's a game changer on long trips.
I used Google Maps with very few glitches the entire trip...
Bought my hybrid Lariat down in FL and drove it up to Ohio for the holidays and encountered this problem very consistently. Temps were in the 20s and 30s most of the trip which seemed to make it worse. Mine continues to lurch and the transmission sounds like it's almost constantly grinding...
Just went on a 15 hour trip and skipped the whole time using apple carplay and plugged in with 2 different cables, 2 different phones. Doesn't seem to be an issue with radio but don't listen to radio much. Hoping they can just fix with an update or something but doesn't seem like there's much hope
