Why do people complain about others spending 40k on a maverick?

I get it, 40k is a lot of money, the interior is from a $20,000 vehicle, and the lariat is just putting lipstick on a pig etc. etc.

but I'm going to list things I need in a vehicle, and try to come up with something for me.
-has a bed for dirt/mulch etc so it doesn't get in the cab. (my wife likes to garden and we have a decently big property to do work on)
-gets good gas mileage because my wife and I live outside the city and commute about 60 miles to work one way
-has a good ride quality/decent handling. I've daily driven sports cars my whole life so I have some expectation that it doesn't drive like complete crap like a "real" truck.
-leather/pleather seats for ease of cleaning. we have a dog and scrubbing mud out of cloth seats sucks ass.
-has 4-5k towing capabilities for a trailer to do home renos/dump runs etc.
-is less than $50k.
-AWD for winter driving
-is small enough to park in the city easily, good turning radius etc.

Literally, the ONLY vehicle that currently exists which fits that arbitrary list of criteria is the 2025 maverick lariat hybrid/awd. The xlt doesn't come with pleather seats, 2024 models don't come awd and hybrid, any crossover/suv isn't going to have a seperate area for dirt so it's going to end up all over the cabin. Any "real" truck is going to be too big, too fuel hungry and crap to drive.

Everyone talks like getting a ranger is some huge upgrade for a few grand more. It's a completely different class of vehicle. It's like asking why someone bought a miata when they could have bought a duramax because you can't haul 20 sheets of plywood in a miata. Like maybe the "more capable" vehicle is actually worse in the ways that matter to that person, and much more inconvenient in other ways? Anyways I'm just tired of hearing about this and wanted to get your guys thoughts.
Hey man, you nailed it. The price is what it is and the truck is delivering on what you want. Besides, your going to be one of the first to own a 2025!

I love my Maverick Lariat Tremor and 100% honestly feel like it's worth every penny, I mean don't get me wrong I like all forms of mavericks but I wouldn't trade mine for a Ranger or F-150 of equal price EVER.

I do not get this sentiment at all.

A 2024 SuperCrew XL F-150 4x4 starts at 43,000. That truck has a 43,000 interior.

The Platinum trim starts at $73,000. A FULL $30K MORE! For an XL F-150! You can add another $17k in options to the Platinum trim so we're creeping up on spending $50k more on that crappy base XL F-150.

And I'm supposed to feel bad about spending $8k more on my Lariat than an XL AWD Hybrid?

Nope. I won't do it. It is still an amazing value.

Amen, preach! Ditto on everything you said (except the pleather seats, getting an 25 XLT Hybrid). Also clearly there are two (or more) camps on this forum. Those that “get it” and those that say something like “I can get Eanger or an F150 for that price, why get a Maverick?”

To each his own, I loved my ‘24 XLD AWD Sticker $28K, drove it for three months but then stumbled onto this ‘23 $61K sticker which I bought two months ago for $40K after selling the maverick for $27,750
The gas mileage is bad on the gladiator but I don’t care 😂

I test drove a Lariat first...loved the interior look except the vinyl seats which got smoking hot in the Atlanta summer heat, so XLT cloth seats became the choice for me. Only thing I knock on the XLT is the stereo/infotainment. Ford should have offered an option to upgrade it to the B&O system.

I look at it like this.....

Opinions are like assholes, everybody has one. It's up to you how much value you put into it.
I have my prostate examined every year................... : )

I agree completely. I'm coming from a 2014 King Ranch F150 that I dont use to its full capability any more. I looked at replacing it with a 2024 King Ranch because all I've ever owned is full size pickups. But at 18mpg and an almost $80k price tag it would be foolish. Yeah, maybe the "value" of my ordered 2025 Hybrid AWD Mav isn't worth $40k, but what else would I buy that gets 40mpg, has AWD for midwest winters and Colorado ski trips, while also giving me the truck bed I don't want to live without? I agree that the interior still leaves alot to be desired considering my 10 year old F150 has more technology options than the new MY25 Mav, but its a sacrifice I'm willing to make and allows me to keep an extra $40k invested towards other adventures.

Totally Agree here, as there are some features that many of us wanted, and were willing to pay a little additional to have. The ActiveX seats, to clean up easier of dog hair, the sliding rear glass for the dog and to cool the cab (possibly one of my favorites), and rolling to '23, the built in Nav when in an area between mountains with little or unreliable cell service is great. I also wanted the upgraded radio, and sound-shield windshield, as I'm sensitive to some noises with my ears.

It's all up to the individual. I like the XL and think it's a great value. If you can afford all the options and want the top of the line that's great.

My only issue for the price is the interior. the outside looks so nice, but I am not in love with the bruise look they chose for the inside. I think if Ford made the interior just a little nicer the complaints would dissapear.

Yeah, the interior is my biggest gripe (in addition to the poor manufacturing). I have two dogs and all the plastic pieces of the car are scratched up so bad. I had a Rav4 for 5 years before the Maverick and the interior still looked almost brand new. My Maverick is 18 months old and looks like it was on a construction site for the last 10 years.
