It is a car with a bed though. If I wanted to feel like I was driving a real truck I would not have bought my Maverick. Luckily my Mav rides just like a car with a couple extra inches of ground clearance.
I agree with this. It's not a bad thing here. It drives so much better than my body on frame Tacoma. Y'all don't take it as an insult that it's a car. That's a good thing IMHO

I'm not complaining about my Maverick. I disagree 100% with your point that trucks should be expected to have poor radios, bad ride. rattles, and uncomfortable. It's not 1950 anymore. Trucks offer more luxury, are more expensive, and are more comfortable than the average car. Example of "you want comfort, buy a Camry" is humorous.
I tend to be more optimistic about build & reliability also however, just because it's a little cheaper (quickly catching up) than any other truck doesn't mean that's a good excuse for poor quality & some major & minor issues.

it’s cheaper for a reason though. You can’t expect the same quality level for less money.

I love this product from Ford which I consider a great success not only in the US but all across america (continent). But having driven a midsize pickup (ranger, frontier, etc) I must say that this is a car in a truck's clothing, at least in off-road driving scenarios.
It is clearly designed to travel the distance with great comfort thanks to a great developed suspension system and carry considerable load in a generous capacity bed.
Riding is smooth and powerful thanks to a lovely matched engine and transaxle pair, without compromising consumptions which are remarkable.

But it does have rattles coming from the dashboard and some minor suspension clunks. In Argentina this is not an entry level car as it was the Ka and Fiesta, or even the Focus, in which you might expect this kind of stuff, but since car industry is moving to a different direction (which I consider a mistake) we might expect this kind of things in this kind of products which perhaps they're now the new entry level products. It's kind of confusing.
I recall entry-level products from 30 years ago to be sturdier but this is what it is now. Overall I absolutely recommend this great product and I hope Ford keeps making this kind of products oriented towards mechanics and driving experience.

And bring back the glorious Fiesta.

Have a happy new year lucky maverick owners!

I go on this forum everyday to read, and learn things about the Maverick. People complain about rattles, harsh ride, radio Is not quality etc. If these things bother you, buy a car, "NOT A TRUCK". Again they state this is my first new car, It's a Truck! Over the years, I have bought many vehicles, most used, 10 to 15 new. (I've been driving 66 years) stop comparing apples with oranges. Trucks do truck things, move a refrigerator, if you want comfort, buy a Camry. Just my humble opion. The Maverick is the best bang for the buck out there!
There is no excuse for poor quality. At any price point. My wife has a new Honda HRV, roughly the same price as a Maverick. It doesn't rattle to high hell. It hasn't been in the shop or left us stranded.

So I disagree that we have gotten what we paid for and that I should just suck it up because it's a truck.

My "truck" is still sitting at the dealer waiting on a diagnosis of whatever killed it. The constant dash rattles should not be there in any vehicle with less than 10k miles(unless you drive down very bumpy dirt roads every day).

So I guess I am just a buttercup for wanting a truck that works for more than 10k miles.

If they were all like that, I would agree with you. But they are not. Mine has been completely rattle free and trouble free for two years now. ALL automobile manufacturers produce the odd lemon at ALL price points. To draw broad conclusions based on a few bad examples is unwarranted.

Everything with my 24 Lariat hybrid has been great; except the battery will not hold a charge. Iead-acid batterys are not rocket science. It is not being pickey to expect a halfway OK battery, is it?
The battery in my 23 has had no issues so far.

All the complaints about high prices, and problems at the price point. It's literally the cheapest truck sold in the US. What do you expect? A Rolls Royce? It's built to be cheap. Not Luxurious, or high quality. Just a cheap little commuter truck for the masses.

And yes this little truck has almost twice the payload of my 2000 F150. For a small truck, it's capabilities are impressive. I've had zero issues with my truck in 4 months and 6,000 miles. I do drive it every day. (missed one day). At the $25K I paid, I have no complaints.

The few people with real problems are always going to be the loudest and most vocal when it comes to a forum like this.

Can we complain if a maverick stops working in the middle of the road or doesn't start or need a new tranny at less than 36k miles?

Just ignore the negative comments, that is what I did for my previous car a 2011 Ford Fiesta with Dual Clutch Transmission which never needed any transmission repairs and still miraculously works after 13 years and 90K miles.

That doesn't surprise me. With some software updates and an understanding that those transmissions will feel different than a standard auto trans, a Focus or Fiesta with the DCT will work well.
