Roughly:
  • About the same size as the Maverick, but with an extended cab /w jump seats and slightly longer bed
  • Same interior as the Maverick, fabric seats, spartan functionality and storage, maybe more scratch resistant plastic
  • Double DIN receiver, keep the 1st gen physical buttons for HVAC
  • Delete forward collision sensor, auto high beams, no 360, no heated anything
  • 1st gen gauges (2 big ones for power and speed)
  • FWD, but can tow 3,000 lbs
  • Hybrid /w Toyota hybrid reliability and build quality
  • Slightly better looking steel wheels than the XL Maverick
  • Around $25,000

Honestly? Mav checks off most of my boxes: reasonable price, good gas mileage, small enough for city streets, and looks like a real "truck" (albeit smaller). Occasional towing or hauling as needed. AWD.

The move away from tactile buttons is a downgrade in the '25. But, so far, is only affecting the newest model. Hopeful that this trend eventually goes away.

My only real wish would be for it to be a plug-in hybrid. I'm not confident enough to go fully electric, but I use a truck mostly for daily driving. For longer road trips, where refueling in unfamiliar locations would be more of a concern, we'd be taking my wife's gas-powered family sedan instead.

Mine would be something that fits in my garage - so- no longer than the Maverick.
Extended cab, so my 50# dog can still fit in it.
Bigger bed than the Maverick (not really necessary if I get the full cab like the Maverick has)
MORE Ground clearance
A 4000# towing capacity
4 Wheel Drive or good AWD (I think the Mavericks AWD Off Road mode qualifies)
40 mpg so maybe a hybrid
As capable an off roader as possible

I had a Toyota 4-cylinder pick-up for 25 years, slow as a turtle (which never bothered me) but very off road capable.
That short wheelbase and high ground clearance made for quite a capable off roader.
Once creeped over a log that must have been 16" Ø blocking access to a lake.
Ride was too rough though -your head would hit the roof if you drove 25mph in a field.
Something like 28 mpg on the highway.
If it wasn't rusted to death, I'd probably still have it.

Main point is the Maverick is the closest thing, just falls short on the off-road capabilities.
Hell, I saw a video on the "Lincoln Highway" on the Tube last night, amazing what those model T's did on that road before it was really a road.

Just hoping Ford hears me and there are others out there with the same values.
It just seems like they have the technology but don't think there is a market for small, capable, efficient pick-ups.

Can we make them change their mind?
I'd like the Maverick 2" higher and 5,000 lb. Towing. Other than that it's what would be perfect.

Ultimate specs? Even if the technology doesn't yet exist? In that case my ultimate is pretty simple. For me it would basically be an F150 that gets 50 mpg combined hwy/city.

Honestly? A plug in hybrid Maverick AWD. With 4k or better tow capacity.

That's it. I had the PHEV escape and that power train in this truck,... damn that would be a sleeper speed demon.

While this is my ultimate truck, I’d rather drive my Mav.😉

Very Nice Truck and List of Vehicles Post a Picture of the Maverick. And is that your Torino in your Avatar? If so what's the specs on it? I Love those 70-71 Torino Cobras and GT's.

I think the Maverick is pretty close to perfect mini truck. As a potential Mav buyer currently in research mode, here are some of my wishlist ideas:

1. Lariat should have paint matched bumpers. I hate the black plastic on all cars. Its cheap looking and fades fast in Florida.

2. Interior- Too many random colors added in. i dislike the white door pieces and dash trim. It reminds me of an igloo cooler. The blue interior is a love or leave. I like the darker BAP interior but dont want the exterior touches other than the lights.

3. I’m 6’ tall. My 12 y/o barely fits behind me. If there was just a little more room…. So far this is my biggest hangup on
if this is the ride for me.

Like many others before me have stated. The hybrid Mav is appealing. Its a great deal at the $25-30 range, but a $40k Lariat feels cheap and lacking some.

Full electric ride would provide a big “frunk”. That would be great for many to secure tools etc and still have a bed to use too.

Ok…you asked for it!😎
1. Maverick size is perfect….stay as it is.
2. Add dual clutch transmission from Porsche or 20-22 GT500
3. Pump up the turbo motor to 350 hp/350tq from the retired Focus Rs

yeah, baby!
