We're at 50.4mpg overall in our first 6k miles. About half those miles are my wife's entirely freeway commute. We visit the in-laws about every other weekend. Its ~35 miles away, only about 2 miles on the freeway and the rest is rolling suburban roads. Slightly uphill on the way there. Usually get ~55mpg on the way there and 75-85mpg on the way back. Multiple times I've gotten 100+ when driving back down the canyon (10-30 miles) from hiking or snowshoeing.

seriously!?! 100+ mpg even downhill is outrageous, but so is 55mpg going in any direction. cudo's to you.

That would be 14.6 gallons, more than the Mavs gas tank holds?

My last tank was 52 mpg, and I probably wouldn't have hit 700 miles. Maybe your computer is a bit off.

13.8 is used to get you to an imaginary line called "empty". Almost 3 gallons in reserve (unpublished).

wow! that's good to know about fuel tank capacity but what possible motive could Ford have for mis-representing fuel tank size by this much? i totally get keeping a extra gallon or so in reserve to protect people from themselves but i never thought it would be as much as you quote.

Also so the "gauges" don't have to be that perfect.
And your fill-ups don't have to be perfect.....

To get a minimum of 13.8 gallons.
People want a number they can count on. That number is 13.8.

Some people also count on their fingers.

Can someone tell me where to find this screen that she's electric miles vs total miles? Can't find it anywhere.

For starters, when you end a trip segment and kill it, look at the screen before you open the door and it will show you exactly what you are looking for.

The extra fuel above 13.8 gallons is to protect the electric fuel pump from failing.

Mpg is tanking for me, but I am using max cool and idling more at 100+ heat.
Keeping the summertime kid and dogs cool, and grandma too. Totally worth the extra costs. Truck is the messiest its ever been. Lol.

On good days, driving in Nashville rush hour to work, I get around 66 mpg. No complaints about that!

Glad to see others also have exceeded what I thought to be a true 13.8 gallon maximum (for Maverick hybrid). Now I can relax a bit more. Yesterday I tanked up after 712.5 miles and was surprised to see that I had consumed more than 13.8 gallons (14.235 gallons to be exact). At the time, the Mav's computer indicated I had 31 miles to go before hitting "empty".

It's GREAT to know there is a substantial "reserve" that is not indicated in the hybrid's specifications, but I'm wondering whether that "16.5" gallon capacity (mentioned above) is solidly confirmed? Not that I'm planning to do it, but if it's truly a 16.5 gallon tank, given the hybrid's amazing MPG, it would appear I could exceed the computer's estimated "miles to empty" by a large 75 miles or so.

Regarding accuracy, my computer-reported MPG has been consistently over-stated (overstated by 6% this time). While my computer indicated I had experienced 53.1 MPG for my most recent tank, my manually logged results indicate 50.05 MPG (712.5mi/14.235gal). I'm sure not complaining - close enough and gotta LOVE that 700+ miles between fill-ups @ 50.05 MPG! Just interesting to make note of...
