It seems like those rear windows are so small they wouldn't be useful for anything. But even if they were bigger why do people want them? I do remember as a kid riding in the back of pick ups and being able to talk to passengers up front. But not too many people do that nowadays.

It's the one option I added that I want to pull from my order. Convince me otherwise :D
Open it will help reduce air cavitation when one or more of the door windows are open. Will also help reduce AC usage with air fan running with fresh air intake open and rear window open. May also reduce time that truck wants to run defroster to prevent windows from fogging up which varies depending on humidity level and temperature inside cabin. Can save some mpg! Also can let dog pant outside of cabin without exposing his/her eyeballs from drying effects of high wind. Am not sure if there would be any advantage of it during camel mating season!

Only reason I even considered it but then figured I could put tailgate in half open, stick out & flag it, instead of ramming it in cab scratching interior or hitting windshield. Plus I like the clean look & visibility with out little window.

I never understood the "haul long lumber" consideration.

It's got a truck bed!!! Tie a red rag on it and call it a day.

Air flow.

Pass thru for electric cord from cab outlet to bed.

Love the power operated one on mine, airflow, crack it open a little and all that loud buffeting noise when ya have the front window down goes away, long boards every now and then. I would say having to reach back there to open the manual version would be a hassle

Love mine for the air flow. Don't have the pop top, so good airflow with rear window open and side windows closed. Had one on my F150, used it all the time. I have the power operated one. Would think the manual one to be inconvient if it started to rain driving down the freeway with it open????

The back window is frosted so with it open if you see behind you and something catches your eye you can turn around and see them and they can see you better.

For the passengers to reach in the back and grab a beer out of the cooler for the driver on long road trips... duh.
Yep. We used to run the keg hose through it back when you could drink and drive, and certainly your passengers could 😎 You just couldn’t drive drunk 🤪

Live in South. Leave it cracked on hot days so your truck isn't 148 degrees when you get back to it. It isn't big enough for anyone to fit.

I have opened it one time in 4 months.
Was handy when tapping wires at the third brake light / bed light.

Was so helpful to be able to have one hand on the inside and one on the outside. But I'm going to do that once. Ever.

It came with the truck.
Otherwise I'd have been happy with plain rear window.

I thought the disruption to line of sight would bother me. It doesn't.
After 2 days it blends in.
I forgot it opens until this ol' thread popped up.

I recently hauled some 12 foot long pieces of black pipe for a backyard project for my girlfriend. Had I done what you're saying the piping would have been about 6 feet cantilevered out past the end of the down tailgate which is a little too much for my comfort. Put it all through the sliding window resting on a towel on top of my rolled up BAK X4S and secured to the top of the tailgate and it was barely sticking out past the tailgate. Plus long drives with the dog in the back is perfect since she can poke her nose out there and sniff and I don't have to open the side windows and deal with buffering or cold air coming in the cabin. Very much worth the $144 I paid for the option.
