Might try this…I ride until near empty then add 2 gallons higher octane, and fill up with lower grade…That extra octane gives me pretty consistent 42-43 mpg. But recent Michilens Defender tires dropped my MPG by 2 to 3 mpg…Pretty sure it was the tall tread and tread pattern creating wind resistance. Tire weight was close to the same.
I lost mpg when I finally got my XL full of high octane, performance didn 't improve either.

The 235/55/19 Falken Wildpeak AT Trails I put on my 2025 AWD hybrid weigh 8 lbs more per tire and they have come with a 10-15% hit on fuel economy. I was at 34mpg over 11k miles and I’m now averaging 29mpg.
eh, it's Ok - so it's another $100-$120 in gas per year - you got the tires you wanted and there's more to driving than gas mileage.

Shoot… your mileage should be better. Just stay on battery the whole time.!!! Sure… your flashers are gonna be on the entire time…but they can go around. You just keep yelling “Don’t like my driving. Stay off the sidewalk.”😂😂😂
It's all city surface streets on the way to work, so flashers are not needed. I do run the defrost and heat though for comfort and so I can see where I'm going.

91-93 octane is noticeably different than running 87 octane. In fact, it is tuned to run either or, but will provide more power at a higher octane. What altitude are you based in?

I have a 2026 Hybrid XLT and we just got back from a 1051 miles trip to the mountains. I have 2135 miles on the truck now.
The truck did great in the mountains! I got 37.5 mpg and it handled the up and down driving great
I have a F-150 with a 5.0 that we usually take on this trip and let me tell you when I brought gas it was much easier to pay $25.00 to fill up than %75.00.
I agree using the ECO Coach is the best way to learn how the hybrid works.
I've had the truck since Dec. 5th and love it. The remote start and heated seats and steering wheel are great in cold weather.

I live in Texas where the speed limits go up to 85 MPH. The biggest enemy to fuel mileage is speed and distance. If you drive like I do, on some highways you have to drive over 70 and that costs MPG. Additionally, most of my driving trips are short, one to five miles at a time which will lower MPG because you accelerate more as a percentage of the distance travelled than if you drive over five miles with less acceleration, say on a freeway or long stretch of country road. I guess you need to get out of town and drive more!

Given that most Texans drive trucks now, maybe the state should be reducing the speed limits a lot. You're driving something with the aerodynamics of a brick, not a Ferrari. Drag (and therefore fuel consumption) goes up roughly as the square of the speed, so at 85 you're using almost exactly twice as much fuel to go the same distance as if you slowed down to 60. That adds up to a huge amount over the life of the truck.

Maybe less noticeable on the lower end (14hp lost), but on the higher end (25hp lost) and loss of power without the upper end of the tune would be closer to a loss of 50-60hp. I’d notice that amount pretty quickly!

Also, this discussion about avoiding knock in a turbocharged engine, especially in warmer climates and while towing, was the one that confirmed for me to keep the 91+ octane fuel.

That right there is why I drive my Mav like I stole it sometimes.
My Ecoboost mpg’s are better than any other small gas only truck and,
I like doing the Italian tube ups,
A lot :’P

I wonder if anyone else has had it show this but my short 6-7 minute commute home one morning my dash showed my mpg was 999.9. I found that pretty funny. My first tank or 2 trip computer said I got 45-46mpg average, although I never did the pump calculation.

I've had the truck since last July and maybe filled it up 4 to 5 times. After learning about slippery mode and babying my driving, I've noticed mpg went up vs normal. Indeed, need to ensure tires are inflated to spec for optimal mpg. I noticed this especially when driving a Superduty, made a very noticeable difference.
