  1. My Maverick Had a Bad Day Today (And So Did the Deer)

I hope I'm not the only one that is both glad you're okay, but laughed at the timing of the song and deer unaliving itself. Hopefully you weren't too traumatized and enjoyed taking home your (possibly) first deer kill of the spring.
  2. Kofa National Wildlife refuge road trip w/ camping

I drove a couple Ferraris and my favorite, a NSX covertible, in San Diego. I could have done so all day (and truthfully I drove the NSX all day, what a blast!). The humidity and temperatures all around are notably better. I understand why people really enjoy their convertibles and open tops...
  3. Kofa National Wildlife refuge road trip w/ camping

Money no object, I'd get a Bronco Raptor and get silly with it. My Maverick has been immensely useful as an all-around utility vehicle. I love it.
  4. Kofa National Wildlife refuge road trip w/ camping

As a family man that owns a Miata, my Miata can be my unreliable car that leaks. My primary needs to be reliable and durable. Different strokes for different folks.
  5. Kofa National Wildlife refuge road trip w/ camping

As someone who has seen more roof damage than other glass, I can tell you that missing a roof makes a pretty useless vehicle. Would you use tarpaulin on your roof over a hole, and drive like that? Likely, no. Would you do that over a door window or back glass? Naturally yes. Smaller surface...
  6. Kofa National Wildlife refuge road trip w/ camping

I did my best, but the reality is I never had cars new until I became an adult, and hail can completely remove your glass roof. Plus, right after that hail usually comes rain. I'd rather dimples than a vehicle waiting for a top AND a wet interior.
  7. Kofa National Wildlife refuge road trip w/ camping

Because we're in a state where rainfall hits 100 inches per year, and if we have a leak in the roof, it means our vehicle is ruined. Also, temps in the summer hit 104 degrees with relative humidity around 95% or greater. This is why.
  8. My 93 Octane Experiment! 2.0L EcoBoost Maverick

I've never noticed a droning/lugging on my Maverick, and since day 1 I've always used 93 octane fuel. I'm not sure if that's the answer you're looking for, but I guess that's good enough for me. Recommended premium is reason enough to use 93, IMHO.
  9. Maverick pickup with most miles?

    I know I'm winning here: 12,000 miles.
  10. Do you regret getting either the Hybrid or EcoBoost?

I love my little ecoboost with 4K towing! I have done more towing than most truck owners I know, and the power at the throttle is nothing to scoff at. 255hp and 277 lb/ft torque is plenty good. Towing with that power really shows how important the torque is.
  11. Deer collision damage results in $6k repair. Insurance lessons learned

That’s too short of a season. Ours lasts from early September to late January.
  12. I highly recommend getting a web cam

Agree to dashcam, but turn off speed and gps. All location and other data can be figured out by where the wreck happened and where it was. Don’t tattle on yourself for your slight speed increases. I know from firsthand experience how basic video is more than enough. A $400 dash camera saved...
  13. Little must have items?

Oh that. Yeah I want one of those as well. My buddy’s Bronco has outdoor cameras that are pretty cool that make it appear like you’re looking at an aerial view of it.
  14. The Magic Box 2.0

no Would you like a blood or stool sample at the same time, to ensure other substances aren’t present?
  15. The Magic Box 2.0

People kill themselves. Tools only enable it to be done more easily.
  16. Little must have items?

Skip rear view dash cam. I don’t want it filming me inside my car while driving. That’s really invasive.
  17. Senior citizen Maverick owners thread

You have to understand that those fun colors are a byproduct of the fun colors of the older times too. The 70s had some wild colors, but so did the 20s.
  18. The Walmart Curse Lives On

Though you're right that crowds can suck anywhere, there's something about a level of "I'm getting mine and I don't care about anyone else" with Walmart crowds. I'm good. I shop at local places for fruits, veggies, and meats. For the off chance I can't order it online or buy locally, I go...
  19. The Walmart Curse Lives On

Spend more money on food elsewhere. It is worth not dealing with the crowds that visit Walmart.
  20. Amazing gas mileage! 2.0 AWD ecoboost

Your 52mpg is not valid when comparing to highway mileage. Hybrids fall flat when it comes to highways.
