Either way at 1/3 of the length of the box plus tail gate it is rated at 1/3 the payload. It is "rated" to carry weight not dangle in the breeze.
I case you dont know, plywood and sheetrock do flex and bend a little bit. My guess is Most people probably 90% of em buying this thing will never use it for that.

When tailgate is open with the straps on the lower attach point to lay flat, does it lay fully flat? If so shortening the straps will make it NOT lay all the way flat when fully open just so it can sit up another 1-2" for the mid height opening.

The only way that problem is solved for both since the straps are moved to the tailgate upper latch pins for the mid gate height feature is to redo the height of the tailgate lock mechanism, and height of the upper latching pins. Fords not going to do that.

Making the cables shorter will solve the item you see as a problem, but then the tailgate will not lay fully flat when the cables are hooked to the lower pin.

IMHO this is minor nit picking over a clever idea, and you are nit picking.

The tail gate in pic is not level with bed or in second position with the wheel wells. Shortening the cables would fix both.

Yes I see it now, tailgate sits too low when fully open. A shorter strap will correct both issues. Still a bit picky thing to me.

This is an outrage... How does Ford expect us to use this as a proper pickup truck and support the loads in the bed with the tailgate sloping down like that?? My beer is going to slide right off! They're just taunting us including bottle openers built in for nothing...

Are you all high AF? Or is this your first truck? Although it would ease the loading of objects, no truck in modern history has a tailgate intentionally lower or on intersecting planes.

Let’s just hope they get it fixed before mine gets built in the next 3-300 months. 😂

I have noticed the tailgate lower on all review videos. Seems like the cable is just a half inch to long….

Anytime a company outsources its products to countries with inferior quality standards and practices, this is usually the result. Why is anyone surprised?

This exactly. I can't remember the last time I bought a sheet of plywood, siding, etc. that wasn't warped or bent/twisted a little right off the stack at my local home improvement store. Most the wood is bundled wet these days and if you let it sit any length of time on-site it gets worse and worse with temperature and atmospheric changes.

FWIW: I seem to recall reading here many months ago (before any retail trucks delivered) in a topic involving the unique Flex bed design considerations that the slight offset is done intentionally by Ford. This was many months + thousands of posts ago- so I wouldn't know where to begin looking for it. I do not frequent any other Maverick forums or message boards, so I know I read it here. Could of been in a Ford issued informational posted here by Admins or an article published elsewhere and posted here- can't remember that specific detail. I didn't think anything of it at the time as it was a tiny detail in the massive amounts of Maverick information flooding the interwebs. Maybe someone with better search skills and more time and patience can validate or disprove my memory. I could always be wrong on any topic o_O

I'm very much guessing this was on purpose for some reason or another.
