This part is $50 on Ford's accessories site, which would seem well worth that price. Seems like the strut should have been included in the XLT Lux and Lariat.

Dont think that will work as it eliminates the ability to change the tailgate position with the Mavericks 'multi position tailgate'. This strut makes it so you cannot undo the cable and move it.DeeZee has them for the Ranger, so you would assume that it wouldn't take longer to revise to fit the Maverick.

The version for the Maverick is the style with a bracket so the strut mounts lower instead of hanging off the end of the cable post.Dont think that will work as it eliminates the ability to change the tailgate position with the Mavericks 'multi position tailgate'. With that being said Ford's accessory site has one made for the maverick.
Looks to me like it will work......Is there something I am not seeing? The version for the Maverick is the style with a bracket so the strut mounts lower instead of hanging off the end of the cable post.
Yeah I think that’s literally a picture of it in the maverick, there was another picture of a different truck in that link I guess, maybe that’s why the comment/question was made.Looks to me like it will work......Is there something I am not seeing?
I would assume if it limits open, it limits close, but do not have one. Someone here is likely to have it on a ranger or other. The unit is a Dee Zee- lots out there about them on various truck forums.Does the strut also limit how fast you can *close* the tailgate?
Its not heavy, its incredibly light weight actually. The tailgate felt like I was lifting maybe 10-15lbs to open and close. The Ford rep said there is a torsion spring in it, when I commented about it. Maybe the concern is people dropping/slamming it open?Is this really necessary, the tailgate can’t possibly that heavy? I have one on my avalanche now that’s a heavy tailgate.
Have it on my ranger. It does not.Does the strut also limit how fast you can *close* the tailgate?
Just curious, why would it affect the ability to change tailgate height?Having been interested in these, I went and read about them. They eliminate the ability to change the tailgate height- also one bottle opener (that’s a hard nope) and the reviews on them do not paint them in the best light. I will just ask my wife to be careful (and she will still
Clobber herself with the tailgate)
Think for this it's more unlatch and let the tailgate go and have it softly open.Is this really necessary, the tailgate can’t possibly that heavy? I have one on my avalanche now that’s a heavy tailgate.
