So, for those of you who have a tailgate assist, how easy did you find the installation? We're lacking some much-needed tools on our end, and the metal piece that fits into the tailgate that you're supposed to thread the nut and put into the hole (is this supposed to snap in and fit a particular way?) then hold while tightening has been a no-go so far because we lack a proper drill and bit. It's halfway installed but not quite there yet. Any suggestions? Where's Jeff Spicoli and his ultimate set of tools when you need him?

I bought a Chevy Silverado Tailgate Assist kit on eBay for $16. Had to modify it slightly, but worked perfectly on my Maverick.

What was the mod you had to do?

Just move the ball socket position on the lower attaching plate.
