Yes, and if you need or want another tie down in that area just in case. For about $20 you can purchase one of these on Amazon or Ebay rated to 900lbs.
Sorry, I don't have the link anymore.
As the the saying goes "It's better to have and not need, than need it and not have it.'
There is a member on the forum who sells replacement tie-downs, for those with the tailgate assist.
Ford Maverick Tailgate Assist Question 20250107_123510

I love my tailgate assist. Especially when my hands are full. All you do is pull the latch and let the tailgate drop. It drops quickly the first few inches and then Quietly and slowly settles to the open position.

Does this tie down need to be removed to install a tailgate assist?
I didn't see the kind Glen mentioned, but I got these https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CZN3DMKK?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 hoping to achieve the same result. In the review it says this:

If you install the tailgate assist but still want a tie-down on the driver side, this does the trick. I ended up replacing the tie down on the passenger side as well so they'd match. I thought the factory "beer opener" anchor style looked dumb anyway. If you've got a drop-in bed liner these anchors may rub against it, but they work without interference with the spray-in on my Mav.
I'll find out in a week and a half if it works like I hope.

Here is a member who is selling his match set 2 for $8 shipped 👍

I sold my Maverick last month, so it's time to clear out the garage. Everything must go! Make offers!

Asking $5 local pickup in Baltimore County, about 15 minutes north of Towson, or $8 shipped.

Two (2) brand new tie downs.

I searched the forum and found them. I actually kind of like the idea it folds down when not in use vs sticking out.

This has to be the lightest tailgate in the history of pickup trucks.
I don't get it.
I just don’t want the tailgate, of any weight, to free fall. I do miss my Silverado easy up tailgate.
