I hope the OP is okay. Hasn't posted since Saturday. Hopefully he didn't attempt to drive his truck to the dealer and crashed it when the brakes failed!!!

I can’t see myself ever using left foot for brake, brought up on 3,4,& 5 speed manuals, left foot clutch . Right foot brake and go pedal,
Been operating Yale and similar Forklifts for over 40 yrs. Needed to use the left on the brake quite often..
To feather a load around.
Grew up at home with stick... so the left got used..
Now my left is just there to "prop" me up.. 🤣

No reply from.. OP? Thats ashame..

Perhaps he took the truck to a dealer, the loaner car they gave him is a convertible, he put the top down, drove home, got out, locked the doors, realized that he left the keys in the ignition, and can't get to them.

It COULD happen.

Cut my teeth on a delivery route with a poorly maintained 75 Ford Econoline Van, straight 6 w/ a sloppy 3 on the tree and two freezers full of meat and microwave sandwiches at 16.. If you can drive that in weather up and down hills, you can drive anything. Kind of surprised I never sent that through any buildings myself. LOL.

Brakes are for more than just slowing the vehicle down. They are a control device just like the steering wheel.
Watch Walter Rorhl’s feet in this video.

Granted this is an extreme example 😉

This past Friday my wife and I were going to dinner and when I was parking the truck in front of the bistro where we planned on having dinner with friends the brakes suddenly failed as I was parking. I was not going very fast but when I stepped on the brake the pedal went to the floor and suddenly the truck jumped the curb. I was pumping the brakes as fast as I could and I think on the 3rd pump the brakes engaged but it was too late we had run into the store front damaging the truck and the store front of two businesses.

After the police and half of the FD showed up we determined the truck was drivable and since I only live about 5 miles from the bistro we decided to just drive home slowly. About half way home I had to make a left turn and when I was slowing down the brakes did the same thing again and again on the 3d or 4th pump the truck stopped with what I would call a hard stop and a grabbing sound in the brakes.

Has anyone else experienced something similar?

Remember when there was the handy emergency brake handle right there between the seats?

Now - let's see that combined with radio going, looking at phone, while talking on phone or other people in car. That's what I see thru about half the cars around me at any time while driving.

And let's see someone who's not Walter Rorhl trying it.

I learned to drive stick on an international harvester lawn tractor at age 6 or 7. You have to straddle the transmission tunnel, so you can’t put both feet next to each other. The clutch and the brake are controlled by the left foot and you have no choice in it.
Then at age 9, I learned to drive a sequential manual on a YZ80. Throttle in right hand, clutch in left hand, brake with right foot.
Then at age 12, I learned how to drive stick in a typical car, in an international harvester scout II.
As an adult, I got a 1965 Harley Davidson. With that, the controls are reversed compared to modern motorcycles and the brake is controlled by the left foot!

I guess, my point is that there is more than one way to skin a cat.

I recently had a brand new F-150 with 40 miles on it that had brake failure. Pretty scary.

I searched but couldn't find any mention of "fluid" in this thread, so I wonder if anyone has suggested that a service brake system leak like a loose bleeder could have allowed the DOT4 reservoir to run dry. This could explain OP's situation. Maybe... Although I would have expected a warning light and some behavioral issues between "normal" and "total failure".

It's mentioned twice in the first 3 replies.
