His lawyer likely told him not to post anything more. I'm sure the building owner, lawyers and insurance companies are having a field day. He's in deep on this one.
why would lawyers be involved? assuming the pics are representative of the damage, this doesn't look like near enough damage to exceed his liability insurance.

insurance companies literally deal with this daily and many of the drivers are certain they did nothing wrong and the vehicle failed.

if this vehicle actually demonstrates a brake failure when it's in for body damage repair that would be newsworthy. new vehicles in good working condition just don't do this. people do this by pressing the wrong pedal.

This could easily exceed his liability insurance. He damaged Two business in one incident. Maybe requiring repairs approved by code enforcement certifying occupancy. How many days of "loss of income" for each business. Did the hanging clothes suffer damage from flying glass? Will he owe for replacement of any or all. (Like repainting a door with light scratch caused in accident ). Maybe 10-20 employees couldn't work for a week or more? My son had a hail damaged auto in body shop when COVID hit resulting in body shop shutting down. It was 14 months before his car was completed and the shop paid for his rental car for the whole time. He was told they had 47 other vehicles in same situation.

If he persisting in blaming the vehicle, rather than taking ownership of the mistake, there very well could be lawyers involved.

If he won't accept fault, the scenario in my mind would be his lawyer trying to fight Ford to prove it was the vehicle, while the businesses sue him for the damages.

Whether it was a driver's error or a brake failure, he still is liable for the damages...

It's also possible that the OP came here and posted maybe thinking he would get support in his situation and after reading some of the posts he might have thought that he was not getting the support he hoped. So he decided to leave and never come back. I hope at some point he can come back cuz I'd be interested to know.

I think "OldSarg" tried telling a story that he thought happened and made sense to him. When you start to dissect his story it didn't hold up as it was told.
I think he was pumping the gas pedal instead of the pumping the brake. I don't believe any first responder would have allowed him drive home if the officer thought the brakes weren't working on the vehicle. And he also stated that it happened again on the way home.
If this was unintended acceleration and it was his fault. There's a good chance, he was forced to hand over his keys and he's embarrassed to say it was Driver Error and he can't drive anymore.

This is all so reminiscent of when my Dad drove through the back of his garage. He was 83 at the time and had never had an accident in his life driving. He never drove again.

It was a sad situation and I feel for the OP whether this turns out his fault or not as I am sure this is a sad situation for him as well. Not easy reaching these points in life even if they are a part of life.

I miss the old "emergency brake" lever in between the seats. What happens when you engage that brake switch there? Instant lockup?
I’ve thought about trying that. Has anyone actually engaged the parking brake button while moving?

I have not tried it while rolling.
I do know the rear of the truck will "Rear up". When I forget to disengage it... ;)

Not trying to be morbid, but what if OLD SARGE had/has a PTS disorder from the accident that happened after he posted. He may not or cannot give any info on the accident. Of course, his insurer hoping it was a vehicle problem, has a Ford service department look at it and, guess what, no problem with the vehicle. Back on you Old Sarge.

Chances of this is slim and none, however a lot of ASSumptions in this thread. Careful!:wink:

P.S. some people call me "spoon" because they think I am always trying to stir up something!:teehee:
