Sliding rear window. Did you order it for your Maverick? Is it useful?

Not even sure if I did or didn't, XLT with Lux Package and Copilot360 does it come with it or was it an extra checkmark?

I personally would not use it as it means to haul items however, it works very well for my dogs to get a bit of air, as well as something for my nephews to play with, and annoy their uncle.

Must have feature IMO. Have it on mine and every truck I've ever had since the 1970's which is quite a few. Awesome flow thru ventilation and you don't get that wind buffeting noise like you get with rear windows opened. I've carried lots of trim size lumber, pvc pipe, 1x2 lumber etc but I keep several of those Styrofoam shipping pieces like large screen tv's are enclosed in inside the cardboard box. Lay it on top of tri-fold bed cover so the material doesn't contact the frame or glass, a few towels folded up to protect dash etc and strap it down at the end of the bed.

I also have one of the extenders that connects to the trailer hitch which i use for heavy objects which I will not put thru the window

Own a 2023 XLT. I do use the sliding rear window for ventilation and I've used it to route extension cord from in cab outlet to truck bed area. I'm a dog owner so my beagle appreciates the sliding rear window.
Not having the window would not be a big deal. Rear sides windows substitute and bonus they are power and controlled at drivers seat.

This will be my first truck and I own a station wagon where I can load 10' long pvc pipes or lumber in the vehicle.
How common/practical will be to insert a bunch of 2x6 through the open rear glass up to the dashboard? The sliding rear window area look small and fragile, and maybe even annoying / limiting the rear visibility.
Do you see a way to transport 12'-16' lumber during short trips to the hardware store without installing a rack?
I ordered the Lariat for the power sliding window. My 2018 F-150 had it, and I enjoyed having the rear window open in the summertime in northern Michigan along with the 'door' windows open. My thought was reducing wind drag. Now that I live in SC, use it for the same purpose in the spring and fall, but summers are too hot and winters too cold. At least I can open and close it from the drivers seat due to it being powered.

Didn't get one. Before I ordered my Mav, I talked to a few truck owners; the ones who had a sliding rear window seldom used it. A few hated theirs. I know how lazy I am, I know I would never use it.

I ordered it. It was cheap, and better to have it now and not need it, than to want it later? Makes a nice opening for the dog or grand daughter!

I think some people think of this is a small window, but that is more of just a visual artifact. I think the window is almost as big, when you include the frame, as what you see from the inside of the truck. From the outside it looks smaller as the back is more glass which hides the frame and is not anything visible. You see this same thing on the Gladiator.

I would not put anything heavy in this space, maybe some PVC or a long broom handle!
I was hoping I had ordered it 2 weeks ago when I had to bring back 10 feet piece of MDF baseboard! It would have been nice to push it into the cabin through the window.

Nah I didn't want one. Had it on my Ford Ranger and used it maybe 2 times during one summer.

I owned a couple pick-ups with the sliding rear window. Never used them.

My 2015 Ford Edge came with the Moonroof.
We open up the inside panel at night or on rainy days sometimes.
Not much use really and now the sunroof makes noise at about 65 mph.
A plastic roof panel next to the sunroof went missing somewhere.
Replacing it was $ 300 wholesale(the parts guy gave me a break). No more sunroofs for me.

My Lariat came with it, used it once, have no desire to use it ever again lol.

It's just not something I enjoy. I tint the windows for privacy so a giant open hole in the rear is kind of the opposite of what I want, and I buy the window deflectors so I can crack the windows in any weather when needed.

Same goes for a sunroof. Used to enjoy them when I was a smoker and younger, but now I have no use for them and with the weather in Montana, I'd rather not have a potential spot for a leak in my roof.

Yah, I didn't get the sunroof because my truck sits in the hot sun all day long and I didn't want potential leak problems from the rubber seals drying out and cracking.

I did get the rear slider and use it for PVC pipe and wood moulding regularly. Nothing with any weight though since the load would rest on the glass. Built a foam bridge for the glass and that seems to work well. Don't like the idea of 10' PVC whipping around out the back of the bed.

Also like to vent the car rather than use AC when I can. Wish I had a power window like the old Sport Trac, but all in all, it was well worth the $155.

Had a manual slider in my Dodge Ram but rarely used it however I love the power slider in the Maverick! I like to vent the sunroof and open the slider for the airflow. I will be doing that today on my way up to Orlando.
