We live in a simulation because I'm also an October order and was thinking about Ranger. Up here in the great white north there is some Ranger inventory hanging out basically at MSRP. Some have had dealer options thrown on.

My thinking is to see if I get my 2022 Maverick built. If not I'll keep an eye on Ranger inventory end of year. Might be the odd deal with 2023 being different.

Having said that the Maverick hybrid is the perfect vehicle for me.
Yep, I totally agree with you.

It all depends on the vehicle manufacturer. For instance BMW will not allow you to trade in a lease early with another dealer. Toyota is one of the few who do allow this, so it is possible.
Have you verified this? I was using a broker when I was shopping for a Prius Prime last summer (reputable guy on Leasehackr forums) said that Toyota ended third party lease buyouts on 08/01/2021. TFS website under FAQ "What are my end of lease options?" says you have 3 - return car to Toyota, buy car yourself, or return car for new Toyota. I have a friend with a leased Corolla who tried selling it to Carmax a few months back and they said they could not buy Toyota leases any longer.

But it could be just where I live, I suppose? We have Southeast Toyota Finance and they 100% do not allow third party lease buyouts, period.

Still worth mentioning just in case your info was outdated.

If Ford would start cutting deals on Rangers I'd rather switch than wait.

Yeah you're not wrong there. I did some research and Ford did tell me it was okay through the Toyota finance I was set up with. Definitely not SE Toyota Finance. Anything can change in these coming days though. I think with companies realizing the equity situation and having low inventory on lots, there's definitely a reason for them to discontinue the third party buyouts. If it comes down to it I'll just buy the Prius out myself like you mentioned and then trade it that way. We shall see.

I like it, offer $5000 rebate on any 2022 Ranger for people with Ford Mavericks not scheduled for production. Ford just message me and ill give you my email address.

IMO the Maverick is good transportation, has a little truck capability, and all for a low price. I don't see a lot of value in the Ranger regardless of your intended use. I say get a Maverick or an F150. The Ranger is butt ugly too....again, IMO.

My local dealer has 10-15 Rangers on the lot right now. It's basically all they have, and we're a small town. The Ranger is not a desirable vehicle.
It ain’t no 90s or early 2000s .. still the peak ranger . There new one coming out looks better though than current gen

Hi everyone,

I had an order placed in October and I am feeling depressed. Feeling like I'm losing hope. Luckily I am in no rush, riding out the last year of my Prius lease but now I'm starting to think it's just not gonna happen.

Curious if anyone knows if Rangers are seeing the same issue as far as wait times on orders. Originally I really wanted the hybrid but now I'm thinking I could go without it. My commute is really minimal and I don't do a lot of driving.

Been tossing around the idea of placing an order for a Ranger or at least reaching out to my dealer.

Anyone else in the same boat?
I had a maverick ordered Sept 7 and waited like everyone else then in Jan I got tired of waiting so I went to my dealer and changed my order to a maverick ecoboost engine and had them remove all the constraints that were holding everything up I had a duild date 2 weeks later I also ordered a ranger about a 2 weeks after that I got a build date about 4 weeks later my maverick is on its way to me k ow somewhere on a train the ranger is set to be built apr 18 my wife is gonna take the maverick and I'm gonna drive the ranger. My dealer had a ranger on the lot the other day at cost he told me that there not allowed to raise the price on rangers like they can on the other stock orders he didn't say why.

On one hand, I'd say just stick it out. I ordered last July and my Mav just went into production. It WILL happen and it seems like you have the luxury of time (I REALLY needed mine at least a month ago but better late than never).
On the other hand, why bother at all? If you don't have a long commute and don't drive much anyways why not just go pick out an available vehicle? I absolutely require a small truck for my business and the hybrid economy is the icing on the cake. But if I didn't absolutely need those things I never would have waited this long.

anyone comparing Maverick vs Ranger as equal alternatives should sit in and test drive BOTH and the answer becomes clear

Yes. One is a car with a tiny bed and the other is a truck with too many seats.

One thing Ford is good at, cannibalizing sales from one offering to another.

I haven’t read all the pages of replies so forgive me if this has already been stated. The Ranger is fine but a proper body on frame truck. It will be larger, thirstier, and more capable of truck things (towing etc). But it will ride more like a truck and presumably more expensive. And owners have noticed a dated and cheap looking interior and a design that Is older.

The Maverick will he smaller in size, better on fuel and ride like the unibody platform mates it is based on. But the question of when it will be built/delivered is top of mind for many buyers.

it really will depend on your needs, driving style etc.

this will likely be the case for new Ranger as well. Unless they announced another model year run for the current Ranger platform that I have missed, once this production run ends that will be it for available Rangers off the lot or ordering. Then there will be a wait for NEW Ranger reveal, reservations, order banks open, and finally start of production with undetermined delivery.
