Nope, no in the same boat, BUT

When did you order?
Did the dealer stipulate that the Maverick price would depend on you trading in the Prius?
Best pricing for trade in: Driveway.com or CarMax (though Carvana is just a smidge below CarMax)

I have a Prius V and had a Sonata PHEV. I waited 8 months for the Maverick because of the newer hybrid technology Ford developed. You'll get your Maverick way before April 2023 as long as you ordered prior to the November 2021 deadline.

Keep the faith, and be patient ...... They will build it.
I ordered October 2021. The 19th I believe. So hopefully I should be good. And there have been no discussions on price or anything yet. Just that I had equity in the Prius and if I were to trade it in early, still having payments left I could still have a decent amount for a down payment.

Thanks for the positive words!

If you ordered in October, you should be getting some sort of update this month or next. If the reason you ordered the Mav was for the Hybrid, don't get a ranger lol. If you truly need a truck then yeah the Ranger or Tacoma is the best buy under 30k.
I sure hope so!

Hybrid is definitely ideal. After having the Prius, and always wanting a truck again, last truck was a 99 Tacoma in 2004, I told myself I wouldn't get a truck until something hybrid or electric came out and now the Maverick is here.

Hi everyone,

I had an order placed in October and I am feeling depressed. Feeling like I'm losing hope. Luckily I am in no rush, riding out the last year of my Prius lease but now I'm starting to think it's just not gonna happen.

Curious if anyone knows if Rangers are seeing the same issue as far as wait times on orders. Originally I really wanted the hybrid but now I'm thinking I could go without it. My commute is really minimal and I don't do a lot of driving.

Been tossing around the idea of placing an order for a Ranger or at least reaching out to my dealer.

Anyone else in the same boat?
I haven’t read through the entire thread, but when I was shopping / comparing Maverick vs Ranger, dealers have been marking up the Ranger over MSRP. Not as dramatically as they are for the Maverick, but they are doing it. While certainly not as scarce as the Maverick, there’s not exactly an abundance of brand new Rangers on dealer lots. Most of the dealers I checked had no more than 3-4 new ones available.

The day I bought my Maverick, I also test drove an Iconic Silver 2022 Ranger with Lariat trim. The dealer had tacked on an ADM of $2000 over MSRP.

The Ranger just felt like too much truck for what I needed, and my 5’2” wife had a little trouble getting inside (It didn’t have the running boards). Plus, it was going to wipe out all the cash I had available.

I ended up paying ~ $4000 over MSRP; the dealer had originally wanted $10k over. I felt like I got a decent deal, certainly not a great deal, but one I could live with.

Sorry for the long post. I guess it comes down to what you really want in a truck. Also, I’m assuming from your post you haven’t even been notified of a build date????

Good luck!!!

I do not recommend getting the Ranger if you still plan on getting the Maverick when it comes in. The Rangers will be discounted once the new style of Ranger hits the streets soon. Then if you want to sell the Ranger you will have a loss. But, if you are ok with keeping the Ranger and don't mind you are buying the older gen Ranger, then go for it.

Yeah, no build date or anything yet. Just the confirmation for my order from back in October.

Thanks for sharing though, those are some valid points as I have never sat in a Ranger.

I'm confused by this. You have a year left on a Prius lease and want a Hybrid Maverick, but it's been 6 months and you're starting to feel like all hope is lost. I read this a lot on the forums and genuinely do not understand the amount of emotional baggage some of you let the Maverick saddle you with. It's a car, not a child. Also you want a hybrid but should you just get a vehicle with even worse MPG than an EB Maverick?

A lot of head scratching stuff here. Did you buy out your Prius lease? If not, you probably want to do that. Lots of leasing companies are not allowing you to use them as trades or sell them for profit. But contractually they have to sell them to you for the residual. If you're planning on using a leased Toyota as a trade, you need to buy it out now.

Just wait for what you want.

We live in a simulation because I'm also an October order and was thinking about Ranger. Up here in the great white north there is some Ranger inventory hanging out basically at MSRP. Some have had dealer options thrown on.

My thinking is to see if I get my 2022 Maverick built. If not I'll keep an eye on Ranger inventory end of year. Might be the odd deal with 2023 being different.

Having said that the Maverick hybrid is the perfect vehicle for me.

My local dealer has 10-15 Rangers on the lot right now. It's basically all they have, and we're a small town. The Ranger is not a desirable vehicle.

Its not bad but definitely out dated interior. 2023 will be sweet. But it also means there might be a deal on them closer to end of year.

I'd say if you're taking about something that you're going to have for years, just wait and get what you really want. Patience is character building. lol

2023 looks promising, but unless it was free (and I could re-sell it), no deal would entice me to the current generation Ranger.

It all depends on the vehicle manufacturer. For instance BMW will not allow you to trade in a lease early with another dealer. Toyota is one of the few who do allow this, so it is possible. Ford will just buy the vehicle out for what it's worth, money goes to the rest of my payments of whatever is left, and I can use whatever equity is in the vehicle for a down payment.

By the way, this Maverick will be my forth child so it is very emotional for me. Please don't scratch your head too hard.
