Why wouldn't you just wait out your Prius lease before deciding whether or not you should buy the truck you ordered in October? I mean, if that's what you wanted, why not buy it?
If I understand what you're saying, I do plan to wait. I mean, I'm waiting and hoping the Maverick is built sooner than later but if it's close to the end of my lease in April 2023 then Ford will take my Prius as a trade in still. Have equity in the car which will help as a down payment.

you may be able to locate either vehicle on a dealer lot, the choice is what you really want? you say you didn't "need" the hybrid (which is also cheaper) but have you driven either? I personally don;t care for the ranger (it does give more truck ability, but higher cost & less comfy ride) i do love my maverick for comfort & price which i found on dealer lot/didn't order or have to wait.

Nope, no in the same boat, BUT

When did you order?
Did the dealer stipulate that the Maverick price would depend on you trading in the Prius?
Best pricing for trade in: Driveway.com or CarMax (though Carvana is just a smidge below CarMax)

I have a Prius V and had a Sonata PHEV. I waited 8 months for the Maverick because of the newer hybrid technology Ford developed. You'll get your Maverick way before April 2023 as long as you ordered prior to the November 2021 deadline.

Keep the faith, and be patient ...... They will build it.

The interior of the Ranger looks like an interior from a 2010 Focus.

Hi everyone,

I had an order placed in October and I am feeling depressed. Feeling like I'm losing hope. Luckily I am in no rush, riding out the last year of my Prius lease but now I'm starting to think it's just not gonna happen.

Curious if anyone knows if Rangers are seeing the same issue as far as wait times on orders. Originally I really wanted the hybrid but now I'm thinking I could go without it. My commute is really minimal and I don't do a lot of driving.

Been tossing around the idea of placing an order for a Ranger or at least reaching out to my dealer.

Anyone else in the same boat?
If you no longer think you care about getting a hybrid or not, just call around and see if anyone has a Maverick on hand that was like a canceled order or something like that. Several people here have found one that way.

If there was a $23,000 one and a half door Ranger hybrid, I would buy it tomorrow

Since you drive a Prius & wanted a Hybrid Maverick, it appears you wanted great MPG. Why would you decide now on a Ranger truck?

#1, leave your "feelings" out of the car buying decision making process.
#2, the current Ranger is last year of current generation, and is a MID size truck and body on frame.
#3, you have the luxury of time and options- so stop obsessing about this for now.
#4, no logical reason to think your order is "not gonna happen".

Yes, I am in similar situation. I don't drive much (maybe average 10 mi per day). Already have a great SUV and an F-150 that handles all my needs just fine. Maverick is somewhat of a luxury purchase for me and I can live without it and not concerned about wait time. These wait times are the new normal!

I ordered back in December 2021 and wasn't even ready yet- but Ford gave me a $750 rebate offer expiring 1st week of Jan 2022 and I wanted to avoid price bumps for new year too. I wanted the longer wait to use to my advantage as I focus on other parts of my life like getting an old house ready for sale, paying off credit card, etc. I was curious about Ranger too and have sat in and test drove current model and it's not a good fit for me like Maverick is. However, what little I know about next gen Ranger sounds promising/interesting and I plan to check them out when next gen trucks start showing up. It has some appealing features Maverick doesn't and is supposed to have upgraded driving experience. Won't hurt to check it out.

Right now my plan is just to wait on delivery of my Maverick (yes, I expect to have it this year before they switch to MY 2023 production) and enjoy it and use for what I planned to use for. When new Ranger comes out, I'll research everything about it and test drive 1 to see if I like it better than the Maverick. If I don't like the Ranger better, I stick with the Maverick. If I do like the Ranger enough to buy- I'll have a low mileage Maverick to trade in at my Ford dealer and have most the cost covered from trade (y) It's a win-win situation either way.

A Ranger order right now might be tricky, since they are wrapping up the current version, getting ready for the all new '23 model. You might get it really quick, or not at all.

Since you can order with no obligation, might be fun to put in a Ranger order, just to see what happens. If it does happen to get built & delivered, take it until the Mav gets built & delivered, then decide which to keep. You're likely to lose little, if any, and perhaps even profit a bit.

Why not give it a try?

If you ordered in October, you should be getting some sort of update this month or next. If the reason you ordered the Mav was for the Hybrid, don't get a ranger lol. If you truly need a truck then yeah the Ranger or Tacoma is the best buy under 30k.

Wait out your perus lease for now but 2021 rangers is likely what you can get easily now isn’t worth it . Unless you can get MSRP. The 2023 ranger looks much better I’d see you can get taco if it comes down needing a truck . I see plenty of tacos around
