Lol I think this is the first time I've heard this. Don't have the truck yet so I can't give an opinion but my gut feeling is that I won't hate it nor love itUnpopular opinion- I love the rotary shifter.

Now I want a manual with a dial shifter!!!!Look first. Then shift. There, that wasn't so hard.
Can you imagine the complaints we'd hear if Ford built the Maverick with only a manual transmission? You mean I have to coordinate accelerator, clutch, and shifter simultaneously? Couldn't they invent something simplier?
I liked the Chrysler push button except for the time we had to drive home in reverse from the local drive in movie theater.
My late best friend had a 71 F-150 short bed with a 390 and a granny 4 speed with a shift lever that would go round and roundNow I want a manual with a dial shifter!!!!
Dial on the tree! OMG.Now I want a manual with a dial shifter!!!!
Maybe with an electronic self activating clutch pedal? Maybe with it's own rotary mode single/double clutch selector in the dash cubby? Now I want a manual with a dial shifter!!!!
Dang I miss Ken Block & his videos.I'm waiting for someone to modify it for those cool new extended shifters that all the Gymkhana enthusiasts use

I can see it happening, somehow...
I would 100% buy a manual. Can you imaginethe complaints we'd hearif Ford built the Maverick with only a manual transmission?
I'd buy a Maverick with manual trans. in 2 seconds!!I would 100% buy a manual.
Don't feel bad. I'm old enough to remember when a simple automatic transmission, AC and an 8-track deck were expensive options. LolThe shifter detents could definitely be a lot more positive. The dial shifter in my 2015 Ram 1500 was pretty chunky. And the shifter had stops at P and D. I never mis-shifted in that truck.
I did have an embarrassing moment in the Mav though. I was going through an automated carwash and didn't get the shifter all the way in N. I started rolling forward while the truck was on the belt and the attendant hit the emergency stop. She started screaming at me but I couldn't hear her over the carwash noise. Oops lol
At gun point I wouldn't take a manual. I enjoyed driving them in my youth, but as you age remembering brake and gas is good enough, all that other motion, even if deeply embedded muscle memory, is a waste. Let the tech do it.I would 100% buy a manual.
