Initially, I hated the rotary dial shifter. But after 17k on my Maverick, I have really grown to love it. Simple. Easy to use. It’s a matter of “muscle memory” (and willingness to not be “set in your ways”.)

Sorry, but I like buttons. Had a Fiat 500e, along with an old Rambler Classic and Dodge Dart. Could have made use of that empty dash cubby space.

When I placed my order I was not happy with Fords decision to have a dial shifter. At first I really did not care for the shifter. Now over two months of ownership I actually like the shifter and now finding myself reaching down for a dial shifter in other vehicles I drive.

Many folks haven't learned that. The rotary dial has other features as well. Princess I never put it in park. I just come to a stop and turn the vehicle off the road to redial automatically parks.

There's another safety feature as well. If you take your seat belt off and open your door the car will automatically be put into park. Laugh as you will, many people have run over themselves by forgetting to put the car in park, and the rotary dial is a great convenience....

This is a short vid on it....

Yeah, yeah, I know if you can't put your car in park. Then you shouldn't be driving. If that's what you're gonna say that I can probably guess your age range. High stress jobs in a vehicle with a bunch of screaming kids are some of the things that create the kind of brain that can forget to put the car in parks sometimes.

My first impression was OMG-what next? After resisting owning anything non-manual for decades as I aged I finally gave in and bought my first automatic. After a couple years I came to the conclusion that they are actually better at deciding what gear I should be in than I was. After almost a year in my Tremor I have grown to actually like the dial-especially those times it switches itself to park when I forget. Now when I drive one of my other trucks I actually miss the dial and think to myself how primitive!

Love the dial, think it's a great design. Spin a bunch to the right, it's in Drive. Spin a bunch to the left, it's in Park. Reverse is the only time I need to pay attention to ensure it's in the right spot, and that's most often leaving my driveway. At that point, I've already gone through a button-pushing spree, anyway (Seatbelt nanny, Ready to drive, Eco mode), so one more thing to look at isn't too big a deal.
I agree. It's clicking through all the "OKs" that drives me a little bonkers... Any way to disable those alerts?

Why bother? In a matter of seconds, they all go away on their own. I've never given them a second thought.

That’s funny and relatable, thanks for the morning chuckle! I’ve gotten used to the new design, but it’s not a big deal either way. I’m just grateful that there’s a forum where we can share, discuss and have differences in opinions on things like this. As long as it’s civil I can enjoy the conversation.
When I was younger there was a comedian who said if you really wanted to start a fight, say something like “John Wayne wears dresses” 😂

For the record, betamax was far higher image quality than VHS. Beta was the broadcast standard for decades. It's actually unfortunate that VHS won out for home use.
Is that because Sony forbade Porn to be released on Betamax?

i hate the thing ,gimme a shifter anytime , how much space does it really save anyway, shifters are so stubby these days anyway,if you want space saving should ve gone with paddle shifters
What are you going to paddle shift?
The eCVT has no "gears". Regular CVT trans have no "gears". They just adjust the trans and you think you're Juan Manuel Fangio.
