I've got my vin#, and I've let the fact that the build date has changed four times and is now 12/13, because its a hybrid so can't ship till 1/8/2022. Just not happy that dealer required $1000 nonrefundable deposit to order. I'd really like to drive it before I die

I must be lucky. I placed my order Oct 6, it was built by Oct 28, "in transit" by Nov 3, with estimated delivery date of Nov 21. That's a total start to finish time of 6 weeks. I don't know how reliable the Nov 21 date is. According to one video I watched, my 2.0L gas only Mav could be built in Ohio and/or Spain. With a 3 week delivery I'm guessing it's in OH. I was kind of surprised because I thought they were all built in Mexico. I did not order a bed liner, tonneau cover or even floor mats in case something like that delays production. Also it seems like from other comments that the hybrid is taking much longer.

I'm pretty sure you're not 100% obligated before you test drive it. I was told that I had to put down a $500 deposit which was refundable if I change my mind, but then no one asked me after I ordered for any money. In fact the demand is so high that I think the dealer would have no problem selling if you decided not to go ahead.

Thats bull*** that your dealer operates that way. My dealer didnt ask for a down payment even when I wanted to because they know if I dont take it theyll charge even more for the truck!

What model did you order? I ordered November 3rd, XLT Eco Boost with Luxury and FX4 packages. Dealer said tops 3 months. Is it really just hybrids seeing long delays?
Hybrid Lariat with lux package with required pilot 360 and Hot Red Pepper metallic paint. Thinking now late April to May dates. Wild guess is based on the reading of dates and how hybrid models are being held until January. There are a lot of people ahead of me and surprised have not heard of a hard cutoff date to order in one sense. The other sense is the dealer told me the Bronco had 200k orders and the ones not filled this year will be 2023. Not sure what others said, but no dealer markup and $500 refundable deposit.

So glad to hear that you didn't have to pay any markup! It is really criminal that some dealers are doing markups so outrageously high!! What I find bothering is that you have waited, like all of us who've placed an order, only to end up buying from a dealer's lot! Why wasn't your Maverick built and sent to you instead of Ford building a stock order for a dealer? For you this worked out well because you got the moonroof you originally wanted and from the sounds of it at a better price. My gripe is Ford building stock orders ahead of retail orders, just doesn't seem fair or right in my opinion.
The dealerships I visited told me that aside from the demo that was not for sale, the only stock they end up with is customer orders received that were cancelled. I am not sure if this is true, but that is supposedly the only way the end up with any stock to sale. Which is why they request the purchasers ID to place the order so the dealerships cannot put in "fake" orders. Again, not sure of the validity, but that is what I was told by Bellevue and Kent Ford Dealership in WA.

I hate not knowing when.... I mean, at least I don't have to worry about my build date being bounced around yet. But, I would really like to know if I should expect closer to January or July for my Hybrid ordered in July. I am very torn on this only scheduling one month in advance.

That would be reasonable for a dealer to sell an order that was turned down by someone who backed out. Yes, that's true that a while back Ford made dealerships confirm orders with IDs since there was a number of dealers doing shady stuff to fill up their lots early 😤 . I do know that my 2 local dealerships have gotten at least 6 Mavericks for stock and sold them all with a $3k markup! Which again makes me mad at Ford when they said at the beginning that retail orders would be filled first before stock, yet we can read a number posts just on this forum how folks are buy Ecoboost from dealers. That's just not right, when you have thousands(?) of people who have ordered in June and July (me) and are still waiting to have a build date. Now I've ordered a unicorn hybrid, so I'm not griping too much yet because hybrids are just getting started in production, but if I was an Ecoboost order I would really be pissed that 6 Maverick were built and sent my local dealership and not one was mine!!

Yeah. At a minimum with the backups, they should at least call the customers waiting on their preorders and offer the trucks for sticker price instead of adding the extra 5k for general public. It is a 5k markup from sticker price at all Washington dealerships. If this markup did not exist they may do the right thing and call people who have been waiting months and offer first right of refusal at least. I find that a bit shady, I am sure the builds are similar to many preorders.

I agree it would be the right thing to do, but dealerships are more interested in making mad money than customer relationships.

I totally agree. When I ordered mine the dealer told me they were not making any stock trucks until all customer orders were filled. Obviously he was totally mistaken about that. That dealer that's always on here bragging about his stock and mark ups gets my blood boiling every time he posts something.
I have a question.
When the truck you ordered gets to the dealer, and it will.
What should they do with it, send it back? Add it to their stock?

My local dealer has gotten one ECO STOCK order in (Area 51, XL AWD, moonroof, and a few other add ons). If it had the Lux package, I would have bought it while waiting on my Hybrid. It was sold within a few days.

So for all the comments above…..did any one put a deposit down? And if so does a deposit applied to the price make a difference in when the truck is scheduled/built?
$500 down. Not a peep. Makes no difference (except that the dealer probably enjoys sitting on the deposits of the thousand orders they claim to have taken).

I called them and had them cancel my order. So it won't be sent to them. The order was not started. Still no build date 4 months waiting.

I have a build date of 11-19 It was 1-08. I do not expect delivery until 3-01-22. that is my guess.. it give me time to save for bigger down payment..
