  1. New cars are failing at unprecedented rates, and it's getting worse

The problem stems not from COVID itself, but how vehicles were half built to keep the line at least moving, parked in a desert or long-term lot waiting on parts, then pulled back onto the line to be finished. Any time a build is interrupted, there are bound to be mistakes made and degradation...
  2. I thought Ford was done with a small EV pickup? [⚠️ ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS]

Completely different markets. I have absolutely zero interest in an EV F150. I would be interested in an affordable EV in the Maverick size range (Even smaller without the back cab and a longer bed). I had a hybrid Maverick after I gave my trusty beater 1989 S10 to my nephew in a time of...
  3. No confirmation email, dealer says dont worry

Ford's Email system has been flaky since day 1. I got my order confirmation email (July), an no-update email in Apr, a scheduled for production in Aug, A built and a shipped in Sept, another shipped in Oct two days after I took delivery.
  4. Ford loophole for giving us the Farm Bureau discount? (Updated)

I ran into the same problem with the military discount. They eventually generated a valid pin based on the order date, but in my case I was qualified for that. Your problem may be that you were not a member at the time of order.
  5. Will UAW Strike affect Maverick production / delivery?

I didn't read through all the posts, so this may have already been said. Right now, the strike is pretty limited in scope and will only affect those production facilities. The Maverick should not be affected at all. If the strike goes full tilt, the only way the Maverick will be affected is...
  6. $500 Farm Bureau Rebate in combo with Private Rollover offer?

They are separate programs, so both can be used. You would not be able to combine the $500 Farm membership rebate with the military, student, or similar rebates. Just one to a customer.
  7. How concerned are you with the possible UAW strike?

Has nothing to do with the line design. Union rules. Only an electrician can touch anything to do with electricity. It was something anyone could do (unscrew burnt out lightbulb, screw in new lightbulb). It was under the guise of employment security. Didn't even really need to be done, as...
  8. How concerned are you with the possible UAW strike?

It's not just automobiles. My 18 year old dryer died a couple days ago. It could easily be fixed with a new circuit board. Problem is, the board is no longer made. The dryer looks like it just came off the showroom floor, but is headed to the scrapyard for lack of a replacement part. I...
  9. How concerned are you with the possible UAW strike?

My brother worked as a welder at a plant that built GM frames. If the light bulb at his station went out, the entire line stopped waiting for an electrician to come replace the light bulb. Not exactly something that requires an electricians skill set. Unions once served a real purpose. They...
  10. lane keep works half the time

I believe it's in the big box behind the rear view mirror, so clean your windshield.
  11. lane keep works half the time

There are several factors that come into play: LANE KEEPING SYSTEM LIMITATIONS The lane keeping system only operates when the vehicle speed is greater than 40 mph (64 km/h). The system works when the camera can detect at least one lane marking. The lane keeping system may not correctly operate...
  12. How long do you plan to keep your Maverick?

I planned on keeping it until it died (hopefully a long time). When does plan "A" ever work out? I gave my 33 year old S10 beater truck to my nephew in a time of need, then ordered the Maverick. Patiently waited ~14 months for it to arrive. Two months after I took delivery, nephew no longer...
  13. Does the hybrid battery hold charge after I shut off the engine?

I guess the real test would be to remove the 12v battery from the equation (if you even can, will the truck stay in ready mode without the 12v connected?). If the outlets still work, the HVB is powering them, if they don't, the 12v is powering them.
  14. Does the hybrid battery hold charge after I shut off the engine?

You may be right since it's only 400 watts. I'm pretty sure the 1500 watt outlets on my Toyota Sienna are powered by the HVB.
  15. Got 2024 order email from Ford even though I didn't order one

GM told saleman/flunky, print out all unbuilt/undelivered orders and enter same order as closely as possible as a 2024. We'll sort it after the last 23's are scheduled. Not a bad way to do business to get them all in on day 1.
  16. Does the hybrid battery hold charge after I shut off the engine?

The 12v battery powers the computer, any 12v accessories, and the relays to energize the HVB/traction battery. The engine starter (MG1 ) and all engine components, including the AC compressor and the 120v outlets run from the HVB. This is why the 12v battery is such a puny battery. Not much...
  17. Dealer asking me to sign "Factory Order or Locate New Vehicle Buyer's Worksheet"

Since it's impossible to correctly identify the vehicle until a VIN is attached, the document will be meaningless. If the dealer insists, just make sure you get a copy with no VIN, the page 2 remark and the inspection lines lined out. Make the GM (not the sales person) sign it as well, maybe...
  18. 2023 Maverick order canceled by FORD

The only reason Ford would have cancelled at this time is if your dealer failed to do COVP as instructed. Your dealer is BSing you. Talk to the GM, and pressure him to put the new order in (when the banks open), at the lowest priority number (Highest priority). Right now that would be 10, but...
  19. Long McArthur Ford is gettting ZERO allocations for at least this coming month.

The allocation system made sense under the old business model. You went the to the dealer, perused the lot, picked the one that matched your needs the best. Maybe the dealer inquired at nearby dealerships to see if one they had was a better match. Maybe 5% of non-fleet orders were custom...
  20. Long McArthur Ford is gettting ZERO allocations for at least this coming month.

Ford threatened to penalize dealers who did this. If the percentage of COVP orders making final delivery to the original customer dropped below a certain percentage, sanctions would occur. It varied between 85% and 95% for the 2022my. Since the my23 did not require COVP originally, the threat...
