I'll bet the third explosion was the second tire which exploded. What was the first explosion?Interesting that there were three explosions. Two for the tires, but what was the third?

Ahhh, i see what you mean now!The hybrid required holes to be added to increase air flow in the engine compartment whereas the fuel tank recall was to remove holes in the gas tank.
I don’t want to make this thread on about what I should or shouldn’t . It’s about concerns and why it did so , it could make a change for the better for future Maverick owners .
first explosion was the moment it burst into flame. hot flamable gasses in an enclosed space.I'll bet the third explosion was the second tire which exploded. What was the first explosion?
Personal story from many years ago: I was working at a gas station as a station attendant. Management and the mechanic asked me to walk a distance, to a customer vehicle, and drive it to our work area, as the customer stated it would not start or run properly. I went to that vehicle a Ford with V-8 engine. Started the vehicle, then opened the hood to check on things. A fire started on the intake manifold as it's carburetor was flooding. What to do ? Somehow I found newspapers and put the fire out successfully with the wadded up newspapers. Then I walked back to the shop, asking for additional help. You put out a gas fire with a watering can?
I don’t think this would help with oil dripping from the hood!Did you have the recall done where they drilled holes to make sure there is enough drainage in case of oil leaks? I think it was issue to address this issue.
No it won’t!Yep, I wondered at the time why the Ecoboost was not included and assumed because it had no shutters to restrict air flow. This will most likely cause a recall for Ecoboost.
That's besides the point though - what catastrophically failed that it could throw oil up onto the hood. If I saw that I would never have driven it - call AAA. And I would not put more oil in. The exhaust manifold is hot enough to cause a flash fire for sure! I'm so glad you and your family are okay. If this plays out with any other Mavericks please shut off the truck and don't drive it!Did you have the recall done where they drilled holes to make sure there is enough drainage in case of oil leaks? Yea it probably won't. What disturbs me, I was reading several discussion groups noting oil leaks with the 2.0 Eco engine. Earlier today I stuck my head into the engine compartment to check look for any dampness - so far none noted. No it won’t!
It won’t result in a recall because it hasn’t been a common problem. This particular incident sounds like owner neglect or crappy maintenance.Yea it probably won't. THis post doesn't help you causelet’s get real , a new truck shouldn’t be spraying oil inside the engine bay. It could have been someone else and the spray could be worst where it would be too late and people could get hurt or killed ..
