No that is intentional. I see it all the time. It keeps people from sneaking up real close to the bed of the truck and they can't load what they buy in the bed. Now if he or she had parked it across on a diagonal or taken four spaces we would just call then Karen and box them in with shopping carts.
Except, given the opportunity, I would just take my fairly short Equinox, and using the backup camera, back into that spot behind him within 2"-3" and block his ability to drop the tailgate.

But....

It's like going to 7-Eleven and saying "I want an 18 oz drink because 16 oz is too small for me and 24 oz is too large.
Go find some annual sales numbers on Mid size trucks and you'll see they huge money makers. Obviously reading this forum you know there is a massive market for Maverick size product that has lower entry price and not as large as Mid size which is over kill for a lot of people. Both categories can succeed without Canabalizing sales of the other.

What was shocking for me was going to my local dealership and sitting in a Maverick and a Ranger back to back. I'm a large man (5'10" 350lbs, down from 390lbs at my largest) and the Ranger was a PITA getting in and out of, even with running boards; I had to step up and fold myself down to get in. The Maverick was almost a perfect "slide-in" from standing and the interior "felt" roomier than the Ranger. I know dimensionally they are almost identical inside, but however it is laid out in the Maverick felt more accommodating for me.

I'm sorry my point was so subtle you missed it.

Someone parked their new Ranger XLT Sport next to my Mav… so it was a great opportunity to take some size comparison pictures. I don’t believe theirs was a 4X4.

Interesting- aside from being jacked up, the Ranger doesn't look that much larger. Seems the Maverick cab dimensions are larger too.

you had a point? I thought you were just trying to be funny. Sort of like the Goldilocks fable. My Maverick porridge is just right. We have an F-150 for all our big truck stuff, and I have a Maverick for all my lighter duty open bed stuff. Sometimes I wish Ford offered a truck with useful features right in the middle of my other 2.

love your Ranchero in Avatar. 1 of mine (my Avatar) was also a 1964 with 289 and 3 on a tree. I see you have a 71 as well. I had a 1973 with 351 Cleveland in it. I liked the 64 better.

Ranger kinda parked crooked . But thank you for the pictures ! It’s amazing how the ranger feels almost as big as f150 . I’m curious why they didn’t name it the maverick and the maverick the ranger . When I think the name maverick I think of cowboy western off roader truck . Like the classic western tv series maverick. To me current maverick is next generation of this 2011 ranger

I notieced the "student driver" sticker/magnet, what do you use it for, I have some of those decals on both of my vehicles, win-win for me, my daughter is getting her permit, main reason I got them, and having them on there for me is that people don't tailgate so close anymore when I driver slower than posted!!!

Lol funny that they’d park next to you and do a terrible job at it! When mine first arrived off the truck, there was a base F150 parked nearby. Naturally, I got a pic:

It's the perspective of the pictures. Since none of the were taken straight on, it's creating an optical illusion kinda deal. Also makes it hard to get a real sense of the actual size difference 🤷‍♀️

Is it just me or does the rear wheel placement on the Ranger seem odd? Too far forward.

Agree, but all euro/australian utes have that weird short wheelbase with tailgate hanging way past the rear axle. Not a fan of that compared to full-size trucks where the rear axle isn’t right behind the cab.

Never have liked the current gen of Ranger, because it is obvious it was designed for euro market and was just brought over here afterwards.
Funny thing is that I saw a Ranger in France when we were there in June, and it just looked so out of place among the Euro vehicles everywhere. Stuck out like a sore thumb! I didn't get a chance to see who was driving it, but we were nowhere near any concentrations of Americans (Evreux, France...about an hour west of Paris).

I know that the new update to the Ranger had a heavy focus on updating the interior, which was largely unchanged from the Australian version that was marketed primarily as a farm truck. I'm interested to see what they do with the '24 Ranger, assuming they learned some valuable lessons from the Maverick's appeal.

Thanks. The '64 is for sale- everything mechanical new- lots of parts. The'71 is a daily driver; added furl injection.
