Ever since I got interested in the Maverick, I started noticing the early 2000's Ford Explorer Sport Trac. Its quite similar in size and body style.

They must not have been popular because Ive only seen a few around. Ive seen more mavericks than sport tracks.
Funny thing is, back in 2005, I probably would have thought it was a dumb/ugly body style.

They were not cheap back in 2005 either.

My sister had a 02 she bought around 2008 because she moved to Boston and he 00 Monte Carlo SS got buried immediatley that first winter. It was a good truck she finally sold in 2017 for a used Grand Cherokee which she traded for a Wrangler. But it was a good truck, lil squeaky, but relaible, however her Chevy loving wife kept making up excuses why they should sell it and how she hated working on it.

Also before I left Ohio I have a mean green 79 CJ5 with the 360/T150. Had a full width Ford 9" rear and 4" front wagoneer springs F/R offset to stretch the WB 4"(plus a 1"rear spring perch offset) lift ended up being about 5" with a 5" WB stretch. It had a Runk front bumper, winch, black soft top and doors and orange pinstripes. I also cut down a CJ7 shell top to just have the roof portion mounted to the windshield and roll bar for the summer. That Jeep was the pinnacle of my hardcore wheeling years. It would go anywhere and do anything but drive over 90mph. I ran 33x14r15 Boggers on it with sipes cut for side hilling.

Pics!!! cj5 is my favorite vehicle ever made. I loved the 258, the 304 was ok(it never offered substantially more than the 258, but the 360 just turns into an amazing vehicle.
Funny you say it because it now resides with my sister and brother inlaw outside Columbus.
They get to have more fun with it there.

Also my buddy in high school had a 68 bronco, that was a pretty fantastic vehicle.

Ford Maverick 2022 Maverick vs 2008 Ranger Comparison Look Side by Side 20220512_104153

This could almost be me. If I had already received my mav I would probably have posted a thread like this, without the specifics. I have a 300,000 mile, stock, redfire, 2008, regular cab, ranger xlt. I am waiting on my stock 2022, velocity blue, maverick, xlt, fx4 that is being built right now.

I am also waiting on a hot pepper red, maverick, xlt, tremor.

I have no idea if I will get the tremor or not. My dealer says they have a lot more maverick orders than allocations, a lot more!

I am in their top 5 by order date, so there's some hope.

I had the same thought, the gas mileage was actually on par with the F150's. That kinda ruined the whole smaller truck vibe I think.

Hope you’re right, but as a big dude ( 260lb 6’) I have a 97 Ford Ranger and I look huge inside it. Almost comical.
I just took delivery of my Maverick. I am 6'3" 250ish. I am VERY comfortable with the size of the vehicle, which in light of this thread is somewhat amusing. When I was looking at the Ranger as an alternative, I felt somewhat more cramped. This opinion was shared by my salesman (also a somewhat large man) that he, also, was more comfortable in the Maverick then the current Ranger, let alone the one in the OP's photo..

Some interesting info from a previous post of mine...

The bed rails/tailgate seem a little higher on the Mav. Can you provide that lift-over height for both vehicles?

I've had a Ram quad cab, Sonoma ext. cab, an 88 Ranger and a S 10
the Ram was OK, the Sonoma had a coolant leak that ate away metal 3000$ warranty work, the Ranger was OK, the S 10 was by far the best truck for the money
so far the Maverick is 👍 985 miles on her we had 6 inches of snow so it's been parked, salty roads

Yes, but you also had 4 feet between the wheel wells so 4x8 sheets were flat on the bed onto the tailgate.
not between the wheel wells on top they would just like the Maverick, I used to haul my mower in mine and it had a 42 inch deck that hit the wheel wells

I like your original Maverick pic, my brother had one, metal flake green with mother of pearl metal flake and the Grabber black accents

Ohh I loved my Maverick. I built the AFR headed 306 w/ TCI C4 trans. I had air shocks in the rear and lowered and stiffened the front end with a quick ratio manual steering box. It was all so simple and laid out. Nothing anywhere to go wrong. Fast and roudy. Loved the Cougar taillights and the Shelby wheels. The body of em looks sooo much better with the small bumpers and the Grabber rear panel pieces and spoiler. Had a fiberglass Grabber hood too.

I loved that car, sold it to some kid for $4000 back in 2015. It gave me 6 great years and got me moved back to Hawaii though. Hoping to build up my AMC Eagle with as much power and style one day.
