That actually sounds like a cool idea. Ford probably should have done that several years ago instead of killing off the Ranger in NA. Then again, would we have something like the '22 Maverick if they did? **plays X-Files theme music**I think they should have called the current ranger the F-100 like the old days and the Maverick be the Ranger. Wouldnt that be cool?
There never was an 8 foot bed ranger. The standard bed was 6 foot on both regular and extended cab. I think for a period there was a 'long bed' option on a regular cab that was 7 foot.... if I remember correctly.Yes, but in those days the bed was 8 feet long. It was not a truck if you could not put a 4X8 sheet of plywood in the back.
Man, for me, the Maverick is a dream vehicle. I drove that same ranger for years and loved every minute of it. I was super bummed out that the new rangers were so much bigger and expensive, so I gave up trying to own a smaller truck. I'm ecstatic that Maverick the new spiritual successor to the old Ranger. This comparison was a relief for me to see the similarities. I know a lot of people preordering will be disappointed on how small it is, but for me this is perfect. Ford really nailed their target audience well. *steps off soap-box*
I stand corrected, thanks for setting the record straight. I have ben driving an 2001 Ranger, with a six foot bed, for 20 years and I thought the bed was short because it has the extended cab. There never was an 8 foot bed ranger. Yeah it's amazing how quickly you get use to seeing so many full size trucks that are the Supercrew and 5.5 foot bed. For a while I wanted a F150 Supercrew with a 6' bed.... you rarely see them but when I see them now it looks a little odd to me. My wife's family has a used car dealer in another state and use to say people were always looking for the F150 supercrew with the 6' bed, it always surprised me you don't see many of them around.I stand corrected, thanks for setting the record straight. In any case 20 years ago when you bought a full size pick-up, not the Ranger, you generally got an 8 foot bed. Now an 8 foot bed is rare.
This is a great comparison! I own a '04 Ranger so this something I find very useful. The comparison many have been waiting for! 2022 Maverick vs its spiritual ancestor the 2008 Ranger (regular cab).
