The comparison many have been waiting for! 2022 Maverick vs its spiritual ancestor the 2008 Ranger (regular cab).

The proportions on that Ranger just don't look good. I think the only recent single cab I've seen that I liked is the Ram 1500 w/ the shortbed.

Thank you. I'm a little bummed it isn't a little bigger though...
I'm glad it's this size. The Maverick might not be large but by all accounts the interior is very spacious and comfortable! Plus the shorter wheelbase should make for a more fun driving experience.

Hope you’re right, but as a big dude ( 260lb 6’) I have a 97 Ford Ranger and I look huge inside it. Almost comical.

Ah, those mid '00s Ford trucks and their emblems that faded away to nothing.
I like to think that was on purpose. Hear me out. At that timeframe, Alan Mulally put a lot of Ford assets (including the Ford logo) up for collateral for loans to survive the automotive crunch that eventually lead to both GM and Chrysler to beg for Government handouts. Maybe... just maybe the Ford logos were designed to fade from UV exposure to avoid infringing on a prospective new trademark holder should Ford Motors declare bankruptcy. More than likely though, they outsourced the logo manufacture to China and the quality control was pathetic, as usual.

Yes on regular cab, but I can't carry two passengers comfortable in the rear with my old supercab ranger. And yes, I'm losing bed length but I like the new Maverick

Wow. I did not realize until I went through the pics that the Ranger is a regular cab, not extended. And still longer than the Mav!
Yes, but in those days the bed was 8 feet long. It was not a truck if you could not put a 4X8 sheet of plywood in the back.

Thanks for the comparison pics. I had a 2002 Ranger extended cab and liked the truck, it felt fine to me until I had a 2009 F150, and getting back into a ranger at a car show was a little bit of a shock. Considering the overall length of the ranger in this pictures is a tad longer than the Maverick I would have liked to seen those couple of extra inches in the rear seat room.

Overall though I am really anxious to see the maverick in person and is currently at the top of my shopping list when I go to buy next year

the Maverick has a shorter bed and likely shorter hood (because of transverse mounted engine). They took some of that extra room to make the crew cab.
