Highly unlikely that those new Mavericks at Bowen Scarff are available to buy off the lot. Well looks like they do have one available, a used 2023 ecoboost with 20K miles for $32,897.

The retail prices of Mavericks on CarMax and Carvana have barely come down in the past year which is an indication that supply is still tight.

No Mavericks for sale here in southern Indiana that I can find. Not even used ones. Interesting though there I found over 20 Ford Lightnings. Only two were XLT's priced in the $57-$59K range. The rest were Lariats $70 to $80K.

Bowen Scarf is about 15 miles from me early on they had a few Maverick's but the sale's person was a Big A HOLE so i orderd from Korum Ford in Puyallup.
I ordered a hybrid from West Hills in Bremerton. Hopefully they come through. Originally ordered an XLT with trailer hitch and SBL 9/17/22. Rolled to a MY2024. Getting close to having to bail. :(

Bought my Maverick two weeks ago after a long search process. Missed the 2022 order deadline, as most people did. Waited too long to pull the trigger on a 2023 and was about to go in to order a 2024 when I decided to do a 300 mile search online to see if I could find something available.

Found a dealer in Illinois that had 7 in stock, 5 hybrids, and they were adding $10K market adjustments calling it a "paint protective add on". I moved on. Found similar situation with dealers in Iowa and Missouri. Found only a few new Maverick's in Wisconsin, the market adjustment was $4k - $5K on those. Then, at the last minute, I found about an hour from my house that was only asking full MSRP. Yeah, I bought that. It was way more truck than I wanted...XLT with Luxury Package, Black Appearance Package, CoPilot 360, Moonroof, added Tonneau and spray in bedliner - came in at $32,150. When I look at my build notes for the 2024, without the Luxury and Black App Package & Moonroof but adding tow hitch, Tonneau, spray in bedliner, block heater, weather floor liners I came up with about the same price as this 2023. Easy decision.

I too think these ridiculous ADM's will begin to thin out soon if interest rates stay higher. We're likely looking at some type of recession event in the next 18-24 months which would further impact auto prices overall. But, if Ford keeps production of these little gems low, prices will likely remain stronger than their larger counterparts if for no other reason than the gas mileage and maintenance costs.

I guess we'll see.

As one anecdotal data point as far as order banks still being open, I have been too busy with work during normal hours to get an order placed. At this point though, I am wondering if it's better to just wait to buy one off the lot at MSRP. The dealer I plan to order with, because they are on the list of dealers here that were good and actually answered my questions when I contacted them, told me they expected 7 months for an ecoboost and a year or more for a hybrid. I can't imagine they would give me a more pessimistic estimate than what they really expected, though of course they could be wrong. My thinking is in 7 months they are probably going to be sitting on lots at MSRP and I will be in a better position to negotiate the trade in than if I walk in there having waited for an order. I suspect there are other people out there like me wondering if placing an order has value at this point and that's why the order banks are still open, even though the pricing reality at the dealerships hasn't quite caught up to what we think it should be.

if you can swing it, only do that trade in if you feel the offer is reasonable. having just had to sell an older car when my maverick was showing up I went through the various stages. it was a 2009 and it had about 180K on it. the dealers were not interested in it and made crazy low offers (<$1000). I then did the bare minimum of lightly cleaning the interior and taking some pics and sold it on FB marketplace for over $3K to a kid who was about to get his first car. he got a good deal, I didn't get screwed and I got to feel like I helped someone out. I managed to make the sale in a couple of days. just putting this out there in case the dealer tries to really stick it to you.

If there is no longer a shortage, then why are so many people still waiting for their incredibly long order times, and other than the dealer that you looked at, why do no dealers have any on the lots?

Until dealer lots are packed with them in every color & trim and dealers are willing to let them go for 1-2k under MSRP, there will be a shortage.

I remember in 2018 and prior, going car shopping, and the salesman would have to drive me 3 miles away to an abandoned mall garage parking lot they leased where they stored all their hundreds of cars so I could test drive one, and then you have the choice of 4 identical color & trim levels of the car you want.

I live in Los Angeles, and there are only a handful of Mavericks on dealer lots within 100 miles probably. Most of which are oddly specced custom builds where the buyer cancelled and nobody else wants to buy them and they have a $5k+ markup.

Good luck with that. People have been waiting for there to be lots full of them at MSRP or less since I joined here. There have also been people adamant they will NEVER pay MSRP or above as a matter of principle. I'm pretty sure none of them currently have Mavericks

You have to go to their website and it will show the trucks with window stickers. Mostly XLT hybrids. I received another email from them for an XLT hybrid today available on their lot.
I get daily emails from my dealer saying they have a Maverick available on the lot. I inquire about availability and they say it is an order awaiting pickup. Logic is not built into the system to differentiate a customer order from a stock unit. Only blue window stickers are available for sale. The green ones are just waiting for the customer who ordered to pick it up.

Drove through one of my local dealers a week or 2 ago and they had 12 2023 models on the lot. Price varied from straight MSRP to $5k ADM depending on model/trim. Their website showed another 15 in transit but those were likely just customer orders showing up on the site.

Fair amount of used ones here locally too. Most have been $30-39k with at least ~10k miles

Aren't the order banks for MY24 still open? Really hoping the Maverick doesn't go the way of the Honda Element and Toyota FJ Cruiser where after everyone that wanted one got one, there was no one else to sell to.

Hopefully that means more variants are in the pipeline (such as hybrid AWD or PHEV).
More likely that everyone wanted a $21500 hybrid and died waiting for delivery.

As I have stated elsewhere wholesale values dropped 5% in a single week , before that were small drops in wholesale for at least the last 6 months.

The new vehicle market is shrinking and the used market is moving downstream.

Fords mistake at the start wasn’t pricing the hybrid vehicles to sell in any volume compared to ecoboost. This would allow them to pivot to their customers getting cheap and requiring hybrid.

GM has had massive growth in its lower cost vehicles, Ford and Dodge are holding the bag on overpriced vehicles and likely have nowhere to go but down in price.

Still too few hybrids and too many ecoboost, Ford is trying to force feed ecoboost.

~5000 Mavericks are for sale nationwide, not sure if that is good or still below historical averages

In my area they are on the lots, not a ton, but they are there and they are staying on the lot longer. A dealer I regularly drive by has a $5K mark up.....I have seen them sit there as long as a month but did not ever go in and try to negotiate

Their website clearly stated that the vehicles in question were in transit. There was no guess work involved. Considering mine was never listed like this? I'm thinking they might actually be dealer stock Mavericks.

Not sure looks like they are trying to force hybrid. Those are the only ones I ever see at lots. Maybe regional differences as hybrid may be more coastal and ecoboost are more midwestern
